Trimming bumpstop brackets for a slammed 2001 Edge.
Question:
Will trimming the bumpstop brackets be a negative effect?
I am currently using extremely slim/shallow Energy Suspension bumpstops but they're still bottoming out quite often. I'm wondering if I can remove or reposition the bump stop brackets so I have more clearance and don't bottom out as much?
I'm thinking if I completely remove them there's a chance the rack and pinion mount/engine crossmember could bottom out over decent bumps, any recommendations? I'm thinking if I reposition the bump stop brackets 1" higher, I won't bottom out on those as much and may smoothen the ride.
I am also going to cut out some clearance for the lower control arm so it doesn't hit the frame as often either. I think between shocks, and the reposition of the bumpstop bracket and clearancing the lower control arm it should help smoothen the ride and not "bottom out" as often.
I'm also going to FINALLY replace the shocks with proper adjusted ones. Pretty sure I'm riding on stock shocks completely maxed DOWN...
