Leaf Spring Question

I am going to Superlift my truck in October and I do not want to double stack the rear blocks. I had some down time today and I found some Deaver Leaf Springs on Off Road Warehouse, which said they fit '83-05 Rangers. Which makes me think the leaf springs on these model years are interchangeable. Am I right in this assumption? If so will the Skyjacker leaf springs for the '83-'97 lift kits also work?

go to a junkyard and get a pair of ford explorer leafs for 50-100 bucks... they will net you about 2.5-3 inches of lift

^^others report just 2" as well. I've always heard 2-2.5" lift or so.

Anyway...OP, yes Skyjacker offers 4" and 6" that fit every year ranger. ALOT cheaper than deavers, plus they're 4 or 6" lift, instead of the 2.5" lift the deavers give you. Other ways you can get around the stacked blocks is by use of a Belltech 6400(2" chev drop shackle), AAL, and your stock 2.5" block. That's my setup and that's the cheapest way to get 3" lift to axe that hackjob stacked block that Superlift wants you to do, which is also 3". It also sits about dead level....truck only has about a 1/3" rake(thank you saggy t-bars).

Please head up to the button on the top left of your page called "user cp" and create yourself a signature telling us a little about your truck(year, model, engine, trans, mods, etc...)

Thanks. I am wanting to boost the rear height while keeping as much flex as possible. I'll get on the signature.

yes, I am runing the 6'' skyjacker leaf springs on my 06 FX4 L2
only thing you will need is smaller bolts to go threw the front bushings
or you can change the front bushings on the leafsprings to ones with larger holes to fit the stock bolts
I bought some bushings but I couldnt wait for them to get here so I just bought smaller bolts, and now
that I have them on Im to lazy to take them back off and switch out the bushings, just so I can run the bigger stock bolts, I will sell you the new bushings I bought if you want them

The front bushing stuff is only if he has a newer truck....like 07+. I don't know the year when they bumped those front leaf bolt sizes, but Cory's '07 has 'em and my 01 has the smaller ones. Haven't payed enough attention at the junkyards to determine year of the change.

Can't forget the OP's gotta get himself some new U-bolts too.

How much do you want for them? Also what size bolts did you have to get? And how is the ride with the skyjackers?

will_bennett_9339 05-16-2010 01:19 PM

Would the ubolt kit for the Superlift work?

Fx4wannabe01 05-16-2010 01:23 PM

hell to the effin' no. lol. you need like 10" ubolts. superlift are like 16".

will_bennett_9339 05-16-2010 01:30 PM

I didn't realize the Superlift ones were that big, but I guess they would have to be to fit over the stacked blocks. Where would I get the ubolts from?

Fx4wannabe01 05-16-2010 01:32 PM

axle shops, trailer shops, online stores, etc. Just need to know measurements. You can just tell them your same year ranger but 2wd. 2wd coilspring trucks don't have the blocks and it's just straight up Axle and leaf with short ubolts(compared to what you've got now).

will_bennett_9339 05-16-2010 01:43 PM

Then couldn't I just go to the pick-n-pull and pull them off a 2wd?

Fx4wannabe01 05-16-2010 01:55 PM

you could, but it's always suggested to get new u-bolts since they're designed to stretch when tightened.

Alright good deal thanks
