leaf spring questions..

Few questions about the stock leaf springs on my 04 FX4.

Is it normal that the springs have pretty much no arch in them and are pretty flat?

Is this normal, gaps between springs:

or this, bottom one is sticking out crooked to the left:

mine dont have much arch...but then again i have a shackle which would flatten it out. I dont know about that bottom one being crooked though. That gap doesnt look ok..

like Beard said, it is normal for a Ranger spring pack.....the bottom overload spring is like that more than likely because of a lose center pin.......

Danny, a shackle will not flatten out your springs....the spring arch stays the same...

yeah but it looks like it does. the shackle actually rotates the axle which make the spring look flat.

Thanks for the info, so is there a bolt or something that holds it straight that came loose? Is this gonna damage anything the way it is. Both sides are like that.

I'm just wondering if I screwed things up after hauling about 10 loads of used shingles couple days ago. truck was squatting real bad.

wont hurt anything, but they are not as effective that way......there is a bolt through the center of all the leafs that is what holds them in place......that is probably lose a bit...
