Okay so as many of you may know I recently SASed my truck and now i need to get my rear end done. I currently have 2 stacked factory blocks 2in each and then I have 3 one ton chevy leaf springs in the rear to help arc them. So my question is
1. When you buy the chevy drop shackles you can use them on the ranger as a lift shackle by just flipping them right?

2. About how much lift will a stock chevy leaf spring give you, ive heard around 2in?

 

i would say 2-3 inches of lift.

i have a set of alcan chevy springs. made for a 1/4 ton truck. so im not really a good example unless you want to go that route.

What shackles are we talkin about here? I wana get a set for my B2 cuz I need to raise the back about an inch or so.

Rob, you could buy the Procomp 13211 springs from summit. that will give you about 6" of lift.

Those are chevy 1/2ton springs and work pretty good on the ranger. I ran them on mine for a long time before switching to Alcans.

If you need it to be taller they have 5.5" and 7.5" lift springs too. Those linked lift a chevy 1.2 ton 3.5" but will lift a ranger 6.5"

springs will give me about 6 in of lift is what your saying? Im thinking that i have about 5 in of lift in the rear right now and its still not level at all i need about a nother 2 inches. I was also thinking of getting the bell tech 6400 shackles and then procomp 3 in to 3.5 in lift springs. zach you dont by chance still have your old chevy leafs do you?

my only concern is difference from your year to mine.

those springs i ran on my truck with the 4" superlift.

I ran those springs with no blocks and the bell tech 6400 shackle and it sat good.

So it should add 6" of lift to yours. Add the beltech shackle and then see if you need a small block to finish it out.

 

So you think the 3 in lift springs and drop shackles should get me pretty close?

 

i think so, how tall is your truck now? give me a number to the top of the front fender.

it might come up a bit short, but you could run a small block then

 

it looks better if the rear is slightly lower than the front anyway...

 

Zach it is 44'' to the fender well in the front and it is 42'' to the fender well in the rear.

 

Did I read correctly that you have two 2" factory blocks stacked to make 4" of lift?

Stacking blocks isn't safe...I especially know this coming from the minitruck scene.

 

If it isn't safe, Superlift wouldn't be selling a lift kit that comes with blocks to add to your factory blocks...


i personally wouldn't do it.

 

stackin blocks is just plain stupid it actually creates more problems i had a lower block break creating axlewrap like a ****
on my old dodge wich inturn rotated the whole rear axle pinion up broke the ujoint for the driveshaft
causeing a long threehous drive back tothe main road

its out of order and im drunk but u get the point

 

1) don't stack blocks
2) its confusing as hell to say they lift a ranger 6.5" when people like me have no clue how much lift I have anymore


i'll probably get those, then try and find some waggy lift springs to level it out

 

Ya im gonna run the 5 in chevy leafs and drop shackles and i know stacked blocks are bad but i didnt have the money for leafs.

you can't put a price on safety.

If you have two 2" blocks stacked,why not just get a single 4" block? Much safer and much less chance of shifting,breaking or coming loose.

 

I just finished putting the Beltech's on my Bronco2 and wow what a difference! Took 6 sawzall blades,4 new bolts and a grinding wheel to get the job done tho.

 

Exactly,so if you wouldn't do it, you're agreeing it isn't safe.
