effects of removing sway bar...

i'm wantin to remove my rear sway bar for better articulation, and i was just wondering how much of a difference it will be in the driveability.

or if the sway bars are even hurting my flex, which i believe they are....

As long as you don't get too crazy on the street, you should be okay.

my effie didnt have either from the factory and i get along just fine with 33" mud tires. granted mine will handle differently then urs but it does just fine. with my 31 ATs i was able to take mild turns at posted speed, usually 55.

ur ok w/o the rear but im not to familiar with thise T-bar fronts so id keep the front plug they dont flex for shizzle...

Body roll will increase.

they make antiswaybar quick disconnects for 4x4 trucks. my friend has them on his '97 4x4 Ranger and he just pops them off when he goes offroading. they're cheap, too, and easy to play with.

I took mine off in the front, and having an open differential, it allows the truck to unload in the inside tire too much when taking corners at speed, thus I would just spin the **** out of the inside rear tire and finally got tired of it and put it back on...

Supercab Rangers come with front swaybar only so your Mazda should be able to do just fine without the rear bar . You will notice a large change for the worse on the street if you remove the front bar.

The rear sway bars have been unavailable as original equipment on Ranger Supercabs for several years and are installed only on Regular Cabs with factory lifted suspension like R/C 4x4s and R/C Edges and Trailheads.

The point of my post was this: there are many Ranger Supercabs on the road today that are comparable to the OPs Mazda Supercab that came from the factory without the rear bar.

I think it rides better. I've got it on now for the winter but I take it off in the summer during camping season. I hate driving the truck off road with the bar on, and the crappy front suspension barely flexes even with it off. But it rides a lot smoother on the trails.

Or you could just put quick disconnects on it and have the best of both worlds....

haha, well....we could do an "almost quick" dissconnect...

the sway bar attaches to the axle, then an arm, thenthe frame.....where the away bar and the arm connect, theres a simple hex bolt...i guess we could unscrew it on both sides and let it hang for offroading...then re-attach when done....

all torsion bar cars and trucks NEED front sway bars!
do not remove it!
My front anti-sway bar has spent far more time off than on. I like it better off.

If I did, I would be sure to use an exclamation mark to punctuate it.

You don't need to scare people into thinking the world is going to end if they disconnect the anti-sway bar. In average driving all you will notice is a smoother ride and more suspension flex. Two things the Ranger needs very badly.

I may have to try this. As I've continued to slant this truck towards offroading, my street driving gets "milder" (relatively speaking, lol).

Anyone know of "plug and play" Ranger sway bar disconnects?

Still hoping there's an easy solution. I'll make one if I have to, or if it's too expensive, but I'd like something to compare to.

Apparently all the people who said they have quick disconnects don't really or they would have told us by now where to get them from!

Ahhh how some people opinionate everything without proper knowledge or experience...

John, here's a photo of a set on a 2002 4x4. I don't know where he got them but his cardomain is http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/772718/1

His ID is SOKSNIFFER and I think he might be on ORR if you want to look him up.
