Lift spindle question

So I was thinking I should lift my 2wd front end the right way. With spindles. So if I get a set of like fabtech spindles or something do I need anything else? Are my stock UCAs compatible? I don't want to buy a full lift kit cause they give you shocks and an add-a-leaf which I don't want because I want Bilsteins and I use lift blocks.

You don't need anything else for the front if you use spindles. They don't change the suspension geometry at all so you can use stock shocks if you wanted. You will probably need aftermarket wheels though if you go with the Fabtech spindles.

Cool, good to know. I JUST bought new shocks last spring so I'm not really happy about throwing them out when I lift.

Some dude on an expo forum had them up for $150. It was a good deal. Should have bought them.

Dont use blocks!??!?!?

They will F up your springs. The 2wd leaf is too soft to run a block and will go flat and even W a bit. Trust me. I know. I only ran a 2inch block and a belltech shackle.

Go to a junkyard, and find some expo rear leafs. You can get a set for under $30 from most U-pull yards. They are a much stronger leaf and have a better curve. Truck ends up looking like this if you run a fabtech spindle and 32's...

Do the expo leafs just bolt right up in the ranger hangars? So welding or modding right?

This has been known about the Fabtech spindles for a long time. 15" factory wheels won't clear but the factory 16s will. Doetsch spindles do not have this problem.

If you can get the 15 stockers to clear the fabtech spindles you won't have more than an 1/8" of clearance. Its very very tight. Fabtech states that you need a max backspace of 3.75" and factory is 4.5"

found these searching different threads in here....

Ford Truck - Ranger - 98-09 Ranger

Truck Lift Spindles

Fabtech Lift Spindle-RH2

Not sure which way I'm going yet, but I'm leaning more towards the Fabtech ones because its a larger company thats actually been heard of. ( even though alot of people on here can't stand them.) Don't know enough about the other companys so I can't say which is better.

(And no these are not the ones for my truck I realize that)

Click on the link and read my guide. Completely bolt on. Will give you1 1/2-2 1/2 inches of lift depending on how far gone your springs are. They also have an extra leaf in there and are MUCH stronger for hauling or towing.
