Lifting inside rear wheel; hard cornering

I have a 2008 Ranger XLT 4x4 with 16" wheels, Bridgestone Revos, KYB Mono Max shocks and a OEM rear sway bar installed.

When ever I make a hard turn and power out of it, I tend to lift the inside rear wheel and it spins a bit. Does any body know how I can keep that axle planted. I was thinking of some Duff traction bars, but I don't want kill my off roading ability to much.

Advice would be appreciated.

Matt

Traction bars will keep your wheels planted, and you will not noticed any decline in offroad ability....guaranteed

Traction bars will not keep him from lifting the inside rear wheel. The prevent spring wrap and the loading/unloading "hop" that results. That doesn't seem to be what he's describing here.

It doesn't seem like you should have this problem with the large flex of the stock Ranger rear unless you have a rear anti-sway bar. What's been found time and time again with the relatively high CG of a 4x4 truck is that the body roll is too much for a rear anti-sway bar. When body roll occurs and the side of the truck on the outer radius of the turn drops due to centrifugal force, the sway bar forces the inside radius wheel up towards the rising body -- resulting in a loss of contact. I had this problem with my first Ranger which was a standard cab with a rear sway bar. My extended cab has no rear sway bar (and these days no front one either, lol).

Ford quit putting them on some of the Rangers, and left them on others. If you have one, you'll need to dump it if that's how you're going to drive your truck. The only other solution you have is to stiffen up your suspension compliance to reduce the roll but your ride will get much harsher.

It's not reasonable to expect a 4x4 truck to corner like a lower car or truck. Ground clearance and roll stability are mutually exclusive to some extent.

A bigger front sway bar should make the problem go away.

I disargee. traction bar do not aid lateral rotations, and they can for sure hinder offroad ability, especially bolt on TBs. some can be made specifically to work with suspensions to not hinder offroad ability, but pre made packages arent usually.

holy hell how fast are you going through turns? get rid of your rear sway bar and a stronger front sway bar

i can do the same thing! but ive pulled that back tire a good 6" off the ground before though ha.
when i asked this on another forum, they said it was fron the rear end travel being limited keeping the suspension from drooping down and keeping contact with the road/dirt

just ease of the gas some and it will go away.
but in my truck i can pull the rear tires off the ground at 10mph if i cut the wheel all the way and stay on the gas

get off the gas till your threw the corner and get a limited slip.

I can do this in my Focus but usually only on the auto-x course. I have stiffer springs and 25mm front and rear sway bars. I always lift the rear inner wheel on sharp turns.

I'm to afraid that 6" off the ground would lead the truck to do a nice roll over.

I was going to auto-X the Ranger this season but can't afford a set of tires to do it. The stocks are to high profile to get a decent run in it.

mine sometimes does this if im on the gas.. but i try not to. if im making a U-turn and gas it my front lifts before my back though

ha nah, it would have needed more leverage to roll over, the other rear wheel was tucked into the wheel well and bottomed out, it was at its limit haha
