coil over swap in my 2000
so i have a 2000 ranger and am looking for some other ideas for lifts, so i was thinking, could i put coilovers in place of my stock shock to get like one or two inches of lift to even out my truck becasue a tortion bar crank just isnt going to do it for me, if anyone knows any way i can find coliovers to replace those, if any onw could help that would be great

he is talking about coilovers
2wd XL/XLTs came with a Coil springs, not coilovers
I would look at the RCD lift, it uses coilovers, or PM Gumby, hes trying to work on a custom coilover setup, he might share some of his ideas

The only way to get lift from a stock torsion bar suspension fitted with a coilover would be to extend the upper and lower arms and fab up a shock mount bar and bolt it in.
I'm going to (eventually) call Camburg and ask them if it would be possible to add a coilover to their 6.0 pro kit (dual shocks) and just get rid of the whole torsion bar system.

The coilovers from the RCD would not work on your stock suspension anyway because they are way too long. The RCD kit relocates everything in the front end downward from the frame and the shocks are sized accordingly.
You could get custom Bilsteins or equivalent coilovers and make new upper and lower mounts but you need to pay very close attention to the half shaft angles at full rebound travel. The stock CV joints cannot tolerate very much more angle that what the stock suspension allows. The same is true of the factory ball joints.
There is also the possibility of tire/wheel clearance issues with the larger diameter coilover assemblies on relocated mounts. The RCD kit will not work with the backspacing of the factory wheels.
