2" lift ???'s

I posted this in the intro. folder, but thought I might get quicker answers here.New to this forum, bash if need be,I can take it.Member of many bike forums, but this is my first truck forum.Anyway,I'm in Nevada, and bought my son a 2" lift for his 1988 Ranger XLT Supercab. The kit is just the coil spacer, and an add-a-leaf.My question regards the AAL...do I need to buy longer U-bolts for the leaf to fit?I was lubing the bolts for removal tomorrow, and the U-bolts only have about a 1/2" of threads left.Do I just replace the bottom leaf, add it WITH the current leaf pack,or what?No directions came with it for the rear end, only the front. It also came with a bag of 4 long bolts, but I can't see where they would fit in the equation. Also,do I need longer shocks for a 2" lift?Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The AAL usually goes in the middle of the spring pack. If the AAL is more than a 1/2" then you need new U-Bolts.... Heads up you will most likely need to replace the center leaf back bolt that holds them all together. The 4 long bolts in the kit should be for the front coil spacers. When you remove the old radius arm bolt and install the spacer you need the longer bolts. FYI those bolts are a bear to get loose and out of the I-beam. You should not need longer shocks for the 2" lift, but measure to be sure.

This will take me a while to learn how to navigate this forum.Anyway, can I just use a comparable bolt to hold the spring pack together? As for the front, the kit came with a "stud extender"for I assume the center bolt.I guessing the radius arm/longer bolts thing will be evident once I start tearing into the front?I'm not real familiar with the Ranger/I-beam set-up.The leaf isn't quite 1/2",you think I need some special U-bolt or would just a good sturdy U-bolt work.
Also, how do you address a reply to a specific person on this board. This forum is different than what I'm used to using.
