Need 2 more inches of lift on rear what blocks?
 

I need 1.5 - 2 more inches of ride height on rear and I want to remove the oem blocks with the bump stop sides on it. The original blocks are about 2 inches thick. So I need to know when a company says these are 4 inch blocks. Does it mean that I will get 4 inches of lift by using these by theirselves without my oem blocks installed?? Or does it mean they are 4 inches thick and if I remove my oem blocks I will get approximately 2 inches of lift with a 4 inch size block. Basically all I need is about 1.5 to 2 inches lift on the rear just to level my truck out. I have a 3 inch body lift and Skyjacker Supercab lift springs installed on the front. It sits just a little higher in the front than the rear does currently.

You could add a leaf to the back as well, that would give you some more lift.

When you get a 4"block, that means that you are going to get 4" of lift.. Your stock ones were 2". so if you take those out, and put the 4" in, you will get 2" more. So basically you are buying 2" of lift. DO NOT STACK BLOCKS!!! if you want more hieght, the best thing to do is to get lift leafs... You go with higher blocks, you get axle wrap..

Thank you kind sir. That is the info I needed. I had an add a leaf but didnt want to stiffen the ride by using it. I like my trucks to ride soft as possible. Since I only need a couple of inches I am going to get the 4 inch blocks and remove the oem ones. Can I use the stock length shocks for this setup or will I need some longer ones. I used stock shocks with the add a leaf and didnt seem to have any problems. But since then I removed the add a leaf and want to run stock leafs with a 4 inch block on stock shocks . Again I thank you for the help.

AAL for sure more flex and better ride quality,,,, good luck,, you will pay around 40 at summitracing.com...

you shouldnt have any trouble with the stock shocks.. What are your plans for the truck? Mostly day to day driving? or offroading?

Not A daily driver mostly just drive 4 fun
 

Well It used to be a farm use truck up in WV but I have since moved to Myrtle Beach and there really isnt anywhere to wheel here. I just drive it for fun and want it to be a big cool ranger. However I may still wheel it but mostly on sand trails. It really wont need to articulate as much as I have needed it before. I have had it in some really bad places in some REALLY BAD PLACES where I prolly shouldnt have been but those days are prolly gonna be few and far between now. I guess I will have to put my AAL back on the rear and save the money for flares. I gotta order them tomorrow along with a chrome diff cover. Like I said it is really all about the looks. If I still was in the mountains I would install the braced diff covers. But it is nice that I can fix up my truck and make it nice and clean and it will actually stay this way for longer. I do however miss those mountains that I once wheeled in daily though:irked: My poor truck deserves a break.

um, if you lift the rear 2" your prob going to need shocks that are 2" longer..

you could get some shackles, and maybe an aal, personally i wouldn't go over a 2" block.

i have fabtech add a leaves. long and thin so they ride well

Well I did find some nice shackles for 75.00 bux. They are really nice looking and considering my rear shackles have seen better days I am thinking of using them. They are nice tubular construction.. Feel free to give opinions good or bad on this option. I am going to go ahead and change all 4 shocks out for some plus 2 skyjackers. While I am at it I am gonna put on a matching skyjacker single steering stabilizer as I did notice in the short time I drove my truck with the claws on it, it wanders a little bit more now. I do have a skyjacker soft ride aal but I hate the install process. Tearing the leafs apart kind of sux a little. I will do it if everyone thinks its best. I was just looking at the block install of about 30 mins as opposed to a couple of hours installing the aal. My aal is the 2nd leaf and I have brand new leaf packs that I just installed recently. The alignment straps on the leafs will not reach around the thicker pack once the aal is installed.So I have to just open the bracket and leave it that way. It looks a little sloppy and allows the leafs to wander a little. I appreciate the help and the quick responses as I am needing this info asap so I can get the parts ordered for my truck.Its on stands right now and I really want to drive it.So far I am getting the skyjacker plus 2 shocks and steering damper with a chrome 8.8 diff cover,and some Buswacker cutouts to cover up some nasty bedsides Just need to pick the rear lift option and I am on the road.

you could just get some lift leafs, skyjacker makes some that are decently priced.
i think they go for about $150 each or something.

as for the shackles, they go for about $40 on ebay, just search for chevy drop shackles.

I have a 1997 ford ranger xl 3.0 4x4 and I bought it and the previous owner put coil overs on the back, prob is they maxed the rear out, it rides rough and it looks like a drag truck. I want a good shock that will only give it a lift of 1.5-2" from stock height. It is at 3" in the rear. I do plan to haul some and do some mudding with it as well as driving it on the road. I could use a solution please, its my first ride and I like to play.
