i need some advice for lifting my truck
i have a 4x4 01 ext cab, this spring i'll be getting a 3in bl and 31's, my plan is new shackles, and add aleaf in the rear,so if i'm right that would be around 2 1/2-3in lift, now my main question is lifting the front ifs. would i need to buy bigger steering knuckles? or could i install coil springs with a spacer to get 3in of lift? so what do i need for 2 1/2-3in lift up front without spending alot of money
so far my parts list is
3in bl
2in lift shackles
aal
31x10.50x15 tires

One last thing you could do , but with a body lift you don't need to do anything else to get a 31 under there,, 2 inch shackle and add a leaf will only get you 2 inches,, add a leaf don't get you anything,
so for the front you can do the torsion twist and get it almost as high as the back,,
with 2 inch suspension lift like that , and a 3 inch body lift , 33's would go , but than you need to change the gears in the differentials,

If you're doing a BL and shackles/AAL then I would go bigger than a 31" tall tire. I'd go with a 33" tire instead. Pete, with 33's he wouldn't need to change the gears. He'd be fine with 33's and 3.73's or 4.10's. As for the front though... max out your t-bars. It'll give you a firmer ride but it will be a FREE mod and will make it look great.

my tbars are maxed and the rear is about an inch lower, i know i don't have coil springs on the front, what i ment by what i said is could i put coil springs on the truck and give it lift like that, but from what some of yall are saying you can't put springs on a torsion bar truck right, i'm pretty set on 31's for now since my dad might end up driving my truck for a while near the end of this year. so superlift is the only way to go then? thanks guys

i have 235's right now, i seen all the pics of trucks on here with 3in bl with 33's, to me they looks a little to stuffed for my tatse lol i want a little more space between the tire and wheel well

someone else mentioned in another thread, that if your t-bars are maxed, you can buy new bolts for them, longer ones, and just use them to get more lift from the bars... but i haven't talked to anyone who has done it, it's just one of those, i heard my brother's girlfriend's sister's cousin did it to his truck...
anyone tried to heat torsion bars with a torch, and give them an arc for lift?

well to each his own i suppose!!
theres a bodylifted ranger running around town here with his winter setup (255s) so just shy of 31s and it is just screaming for bigger tires.. little tooo much space in the wheelwells...
then again there is a member on here (Mykael) with a BL and 31 BF Ats and he seems to be in pretty good proportion

however i wouldnt consider it being an actual method to gain extra lift.. you can only do so much twisting before you start to damage components.. just max out your current setup and see if your still comfortable with the ride quality..
also i highly doubt bending the bars would accomplish "lift"

it's a matter of where you bend them... the closer to the keys, the less of a difference in length it is going to make over all... it wouldn't make a big difference, compared to cranking, it's just changing the angle... i don't know what difference it would make between bending and maxing though... or over maxing (new bolts)

Wow.
Talk of doing a coil conversion on sla and bending torsion bars...
Hell if you wanted to, you could convert it over to coils, but you'd have to fabricate everything. It could be done, and hey, you'd get rid of the stump anchor torsion bars. I mean, it's stock set-up on some 4x4's... like a kj... I'd prefer it compared to torsion bars I guess.
As for the torsion bars... No, I'm too tired to try to think about that one right now. Nevermind.

If you wanna see stuffed go check out my truck with 33's and no lift LOL IMO 31's look rediculous with a 3'' BL. 32's might not look too bad. I ran 3" BL and coil spacers on my 93 and there was plenty of open space between tires and fender. Now that I look at my 07 with 31's, I feel there is too much open space.
