Z the Ranger Frame

I have a 89' 2WD Ranger. Does anyone Z the frames to lower the front of these trucks? Also, I have a friend who cuts the I Beam of the RWD just inboard of the Balljoints and moves the point of contact of the pieces and welds and adds Gussets to make safe and has yet to have an issue with this at all as he states.
