I've got "F" torsion bars on my truck and I've come to the conclusion that I'm probably going to crank them to get rid of the somewhat noticable rake look. I was wondering if anyone else with cranked F bars would be able to tell me how long they stayed at top height before they started to sag again? I believe but am not totally sure they havent been cranked before. Just wondering how long this bandaid will fix the sag in my suspension before I eventually upgrade to #1's hopefully very soon.

Also I was wondering if it would be better long term to just leave them uncranked and live with the slight rake, would they sag even more or kind of settle out and thats where it will be? Its an 04 with 76k km's on it so they are fairly worked in.

Any pics of other F bars, cranked, uncranked along with the age of them would be perfect!

It is better for the bars to leave them uncranked....cranking puts undo 'stress' that doesn't really stress the bars out...but it wears them out a little quicker than they should.

At 75k, I replaced my sagging B bars with #1 bars and am having great success with them.

You could put on #1 bars. They are the highest spring rate bar that come on Rangers. If you put those on, and do a mild crank to them, it'd keep the 'lift' you just got for much longer. something to consider. New bars from Ford run about $60 ea American Dollars each. But recently, there's been talk of them being upwards of $90 each. So idk.


Hey...nothing wrong with this post really.......bar specific side effects haven't really been talked about before. Espicially F bars.

 

Don't waste your time with the F bars and cranking them. I had 'F' bars before I got my #1's. They didn't stay "cranked" and the lift it gave me only lasted a couple months of normal driving. I love my #1 Bars though. Couldn't have asked for more.

 

I kinda like the rake of the "F" bars on my '04 Edge with 81,000 miles.

 

I got F bars, use to have a bad rake but thats leveled out over the past year...

 

I have F bars as well. When I purchased the truck used in the summer of 03, the truck was already leveled out, so I'm assuming the previous owner cranked the T-bars. I haven't replaced the T-Bars yet and my front end hasn't dropped or sagged yet......and I've put over 99,500 miles on it since. I don't much heavy off-roading, but I do go off the pavement and tow 2000lb trailers.

The only thing I can see is if the original owner swapped out the F bars for higher rated ones. All I know is what the door sticker says.

 

Thanks for the input I'll just live with how it is, its really not that bad just me being picky haha. Ill probably just wait until I get an AAL installed to upgrade to the #1's.
My only other concern would be any kind of "ranger lean" with the soft bars that may come along. Sometimes I notice one and other times it looks fine, idk.

I have F bars too and haven't noticed any sag and they've been cranked for over 2 years.
