No more RCD

I was reading on ORR that RCD was discontinuing the Ranger kit and will not be honoring warranties anymore. So I wrote them.

Hello,

I heard from another Ranger owner that you will be discontinuing the Ford
Ranger 4wd kit and will no longer be honoring warranties. Is this true?

Thanks,
Matt

They replied.

Hello Matt,

The 5" suspension system for the 98-02 Ford Ranger 4x4 models has been
discontinued and is no longer available. In accordance with discontinuation
all warranties have been suspended. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Thank you.
WTF!!! That pisses me off. I'm gonna be writing them back to see what I can do "if" anything does break. I don't understand how they can sell a product with a warranty and then void it just because they want to.

That just sucks! That means theres just one suspension lift for the IFS 4x4 Rangers. That warranty garbage is ridiculous.

That sucks. But is also good. Maybe more people will tackle the SAS instead of spending the 2K on this kit.

It doesn't seem like they can really stop honoring warranties... obviously they can quit selling it but I would think the warranties would still be valid...

ya i would imagine that its almost a contract. That some of the money you pay for the kit is also for the warranty.

If they stop producing parts then there is no way to honor a warranty.

Yes to all of those.

This could be fought because you buy the kit with the implied warranty. Whatever that is. Not sure what.

But if it is a lifetime they still need to honor it or they should refund some money.

this makes the most sense. i think what they mean is that they are suspending new warranties because there are no new ranger products to warranty. Existing warranties should still be honored

Isn't there that other one still too? Trailmaster I think it's called? I was going to look at a double lifted ranger with that kit on it, but I didn't like the kit at all so I didn't.

This is kind of confusing. What new warranties do you mean. Any kit that has been sold comes with a warranty. And there are no more new kits. So every kit so far has a warranty.

RCD might have seen a once plentiful market go to such a move. SAS conversions used to be very few and far in-between.. their common now. Most of the engineering behind them is done by ' common people ' whom don't own huge fab shops. Beard did his in his garage, Griggs in his driveway..
They do make SAS kits but they are all for leafs. I have yet to see any for coils. That is a good thought though. That would be cool if they did do it.

Oh and Beard has his own fab shop.

I don't think they can just not honor a warranty cause they choose not to build it anymore..... If that's true I am going to develop something that everyone wants, but I'm going to build it very very cheaply and once I make millions disco it so I don't have to replace the broken units!!

i have to believe they have stock of RCD kits for rangers that are still to be sold to suppliers. so those kits will probably not be sold with warranties which will mean lower prices on those kits. To the best of my knowledge it would be unlawful to remove a warranty prior to the warranty expiring without compensating the person that holds the warranty.

In accordance with discontinuation
all warranties have been suspended.
That sounds like it's in the warranty, that if the part is discontinued they do not have to honor the warranty.

Does anyone have a link to the warranty? Or, a scanned copy of it to post?
