Hey i was drivin last night through some heavy rain and i was goin about 25. All of a sudden WOOFF went the water up on the sides and everything. I had hit water goin across the road about 6" deep and the water was about 30 ft across. Could this have messed anything up? My alignment isnt off but when i looked at it today the front wheels looked bowed out a little bit. Like some extra camber goin on or somthing. I dont know if thats how it was before but could hittin water that hard and deep do any harm?

 

it shouldnt have if you were only going 25, im sure that if you were going faster you could have knocked something out of alignment.....

 

If it was on the road you'll probably be just fine. Are yo sure your wheels weren't bowed any beforehand? I don't think going 25 is fast enough to mess anything up just hitting water.

 

Nah man you're fine. Infact if I were you, I'd turn around and hit that puddle a few times. Last year aftera slushstorm, a sewer drain got clogged up near a school by my house. I go slowly thru it once, realize its one 120 foot long 5 inch deep massive puddle. I pull a U-turn and head back, then I make sure no cars are coming, lights on, wipers on hi, and plow thru that huge puddle at 40. There was a massive wall of water that shotup in front of my vehicle. I hope to get it on camera.

Yeah, I did it all the time. Big puddles are fun! I do it on the road, off the road, I've whacked snow-banks, driven 70mph in a blizzard in 4x4...you name it, I've done it. Well, I haven't jumped it, but still.

It'll help wash out any dirt in the engine bay, undercarriage, etc...

Just don't drive in water so deep it's above your wheel hubs. A few splashes won't do it, but submersion will. Then you should think about repacking your wheel bearings with grease.

 

Ahhh, motors love those big gulps of water, blow the carbon right out of em... Seems like a bad idea to me...

 

I don't think anyone is suggesting submersing your air intake.

 

been there done that, and LOVED it... did it once at 25, once at 45, and last time at 65.... never had a problem with the alignment... and nothing broke...

ahh good times... good times!

 

Just be careful. If a puddle like that is only on one side of your truck, the extra drag on the one front tire can easily yank the steering wheel around and send you in a direction you didn't want to go. If the puddle is big enough that both sides are in it, it will be equal drag.
