Bilstein 4600 Won't mount into bracket

Just recently got around to installing some new rear shocks. I got the Bilstein 4600 part number is 24-196277. Took the old ones off no problem. When I put the new ones on, I discovered the bracket at the bottom is not wide enough to fit the eye mount on the new ones. The eye mount is barely too wide. I've tried widening the bracket a little, but I can't get it wide enough. Double checked all the part numbers and they are correct.

Any tips or did I go wrong somewhere? Anyone ever have this issue?

Shock mount width's are pretty standard. Surely a big hammer or a die grinder could get you fixed up in no time?

I had same issue with my shocks.. I took a file to the eyelet of the shock to narrow it then tapped it in with a hammer

Another method, use a long bolt or all thread and 2 nuts and washers then tighten the nuts against the inside face of the mount. Work the mount open slowly. Until you can fit the shock in.
