I think this thread has definitely won sticky status now. Back to feeling retarded while I google for 14 inch 700lbs 2.5 inside diameter CO springs. I might have better luck finding bigfoot

posted to RCD thread on ORR asking for rednksrule69 where he found the 14" 700lbs CO springs. I'll relay info if/when he replies.

hey fellas i just asked my buddy again from temecula offroad and he just comfirmed that they are 650 14" eibach springs.. the 2.5 shocks will not work! the 2.0's barley fit and i have to run them upside down and grind off some of the tab on the LCA...

if you want to pay about 800 or so you can get the toyota tacoma 2.0 shocks by race runner they have the spacer at the bottom for the cv axle... i have to run the fox's upside down b/c the coil will bind with the cv. when i build my upper control arm i will be able to run 2.5's let me know if ya have anymore Q's.

Ok but I assume your saying the the 2" Coilover shock will fit and along with the 2.5" ID 14" spring..? Because according to the first post the RCD comes with a 2" CO & a 2.5" ID 12" spring....

It might just be me..but I am thinking we need a complete recap with all stats & part numbers in a nice single post...(for us slowwwww guys)!
Pictures would be even better..but dont want to push my luck....

I've got the RCD bilstein COs sitting on my kitchen floor in a box. I might get pics later today since my truck's at the stealership.

That would be great...That way we can confirm exactly what the sizes are. After researching it here and over at ORR, it looks like there is some confusion on the ID the OD of the shock and what will fit as a replacement set-up.

the fox shock is a 2.0 body.. and the 14" coil that goes with the fox shock is a 2.0 also. (the coil is made only for the 2.0) they are 600 pound springs...

RCD: the bilstien shock is also a 2.0 but you can only run a 12" spring that will fit a 2.0. there are serveral different options for you if ya'd like to keep the stock c/o's crank the coil all the way... ( you will get coil binding though)
go to a stiffer spring and bring up ride hieght.(there wont be any coil bind if you do this) but you do risk the chance of snapping the shaft at the spring cup holder.

But if i was a guy that would spend that much money on shocks i would go with the after market 2.0 tacoma shocks. there are several different companies out there that are doin it. the reason i say this is because the companies ( like racerunner shocks) have done all the reasearch so you can run the shock right side up, there is a spacer at the bottom for the cv axle. but you have to get the 2.0's not the 2.5's. the 2.0 is the shock body width. for those who need to catch up.. one other thing the springs that useually come on the after market shocks are a 650 spring and they are 15" long, the shafts on the shocks are 7/8's also so they will most likely never, and i mean never snap or break. i say that because i snapped both of my rcd c/o's.

i hope this cleared things up a bit.. this is almost everything i know... lol. let me know if you need any help.

I'm back!!!

Hey guys, it's me, the original poster...Anyways schools just a pain so I haven't been into this site for a while. I have finally got my shocks on my truck. AWESOME! lol, it was quite funny watching all you guys looking for 700lbs Eibach 14" springs...I'll let you in on a little secret, they don't make them. Sorry, I just figured they did since they make 12" 700's, but they don't. Only 650lb 14" springs, so that's what I ended up with. However you can put 12" springs on these Fox Shox if you wanted the 700lb springs. The new shocks and springs are a tight fit, but they do work. It rides much more softer on the street, it soaks up the little bumps very nicely. I had to adjust the spanner nut some, and still need to add a little preload to level it. But it rides much nicer. I wish they had 700lb 14" springs, that would be perfect!

I read some posts about how it may not work, or you need to do some mods...That's a lie, mine bolted right up, no mods...

not to dig up an old thread but iv been searching and never figured this out...the fox 2.o shocks will directly bolt up as replacement for the bilsteins that come with rcd

Yeah, it'd be nice to know part numbers on the replacement fox 2.0's and corresponding coils.

I'm getting my front end redone as we speak and it sucks that I'm gonna have to come back to re-address the coilovers at a later date. I just don't have the time to do the stuff anymore.....research/labor. Hell, I'm paying my mechanic to install the truckload of parts I've been gathering over the last four months. =\

Sucks you can't buy time eh?

yea ur telling me i wish i had time to do stuff. Sadly i believe the coilovers that i boughtfrom gumby are blown the right one is leaking fluid

Mine weren't so bad when I bought my truck in 9/06. I later found out the original owner bought the truck new 4/03, the RCD was installed 12/03. The second owner had it for six months before I bought it off of him. I've put 6k miles on it since I bought it 15 months ago and the coils are SHOT! They sag so bad that my 33's rub my damn bumper when doing a hard turn going over a bump. I'm waiting for my tires to rip that valance off one of these days if I don't get the coils taken care of or get my old tube bumper on there very soon.

The coilovers don't like being jumped....on pavement or the dirt. lmao

Rally racing in corn fields doing 40-60mph were also, apparently, a bad idea

So it's a lil old of a thread... But it's a bad or good idea to run the eibach 14in coils on the RCD kit? (Bought my kit in Sept 07... I'm assuming they've done some changing of the kit since it first came out)

if you read above, Brian fit the 14s on fox shocks. I don't think the 14 inch coils will fit on the RCD supplied bilstein coilover. If I was at home I'd post up pics of either the RCD coils or the hypercoils (both 12 inch springs) compressed on a strut compressor. There's not much room to compress enough to fit 14 inch coils on the bilstein c/o unit.

Gumby, you floating about and want to weigh in?

Hmm... Where can I get a good deal on the fox shocks then? The coils are going to run me about $135 shipped to my house...

Also, do you know where on the explorerforum site the RCD discussion on the coils is? I cannot use that forum, I get so lost.. I put up a thread on it, but there's so many places to put things there I get lost haha..

Maybe someone could help me look for the thread on it?!
