rcd of super lift or hybrid?
#28
As for the lift, RCD probably is a better system. i did the superlift for 2 reasons: cheaper and easier to install. I hate how it keeps the torsion bars at the same height as stock.

obviously you guys have to make decisions for yourself, but you guys should read those two threads I posted. I think spending that kind of money on a lift (RCD) is ridiculous (sp?) especially when you can get a superlift, buy your coil-overs and all the bracket's and still come under what the RCD cost's and it will ride better than a RCD kit. I'm all about getting the performance I want for the least amount of money.

I've been contemplating the same thing for a while now. I've been doing a ton of research and I am planning on doing the "hybrid" lift.
My reasons:
-Cheaper to begin with.
-Won't have to buy new rotors, I have an 03.
-Superlift has some stronger hardware from what I've seen, shouldn't have to weld up anything bracketwise to make them stronger.
-When the time for the conversion comes, I can get what I want for about the same price as the rcd kit to begin with. Then I can sell superlift stuff not wanted.

Found the RCD kit for $2,065 NEW at this site(On sale until Sept. 30), dont know what the shipping is, if there is any, so the price may or may not be more.

My RCD is actually the prototype kit, and the extended shafts were a one-off set that came with it. I couldn't tell you exactly who made them or how much it might cost to actually get a set, but I'd bet that it would be tough to find someone willing to make some and quite expensive to boot.

I bought the kit used. It was originally designed using Deserspive's truck, he's a member on ORR. If you could a hold of him he could probably provide some insight on the extended shafts, but I don't think he's active on there anymore so it might take a good bit of luck to contact the guy!

found rcd kit at TRUCKIN UP down here in mobile and Jeff the guy who owns it is gonna charge me 1850$ for the rcd 180$ for BL 1275$ for 37x12.50R17 BFG M/T's 700$ for 17x9Moto Metal series MO951
and thats about it for the moment.. im still debating on just getting super lift then buying everythign i need for the hybrid but im just not sure.. atm his price for super lift was 1350$
only reason his prices are low is because i am buying all of this threw him and hes cut alot off the price!!

seed60 to answer your question Pulse Vaccum trucks (98-early 2000, they changed mid year 00) can use the RCD kit...."BUT!!!" you have to drill the holes for the vaccum lines ....OR you can get AVM hubs which convert your hubs to manual's anyway....so no need to the vaccum setup. Your truck how-ever has a live axle setup so you don't have to worry about it anyway.

my RCD has given me lots of problems.
that little drop bracket everyone breaks?
yea when i dropped my diff today.. it was already split again.
not to mention i wore out the stock 600# springs in 4 months.. and i wore out the 750# hypercoil springs in 6 months.. but i dont think anyone on here understands what kind of hell this truck has been through that has caused those springs to get worn out so fast.
8,000 can get you a pretty nice SAS if you look around and your patient about buying parts.. hell i'm in a rush and i'm at just under 2,000 right now. but since your dad wont let you thats out of the question

Matt I think has put his RCD kit through it's pace's and gone past what it was designed to do (which I think is a good thing) and has first hand experience on what the limitations are, what the weak links are in the system. Andrew I know you had the kit too previously...not doubting anyone here...just my opinion. Putting coil-over's with a superlift is a drastic IMPROVEMENT over just a superlift and still be cheaper than a RCD out of the box. And you can run 750lb coils versus the standard ones that come with the RCD kit. Which matt has already said had a short lifespan. Just my opinion.

I like your prices, they seem pretty fair. I would add the skyjacker springs in there as well to get rid of the blocks. 4" skyjacker springs you will run stock blocks yet, 6" skyjackers will require no blocks at all. its your choice.
you better regear to 4.88s its gonna be slow otherwise. Also you will need a new front driveshaft after a while with the RCD as well.
