rear end drop?
hey...is there a way to just lower the rear end on my truck, like..2 inches. maybe 3 at most. it sits alot higher than the front and it bothers the hell out of me. is there like..smaller leaf springs i could get off some other truck or something. trying to keep the cost down. i don't use it to haul or tow anything so thats not really a problem.
thanx alot guys |
Put the axel on top of the springs.....
or flip rear perches ( i think) |
i read up on a flip kit a while back..and i think it says that'l drop it about 5", correct? which is a little drastic. i just want it to be level ya know.

drill out the rear hanger rivits and flip the shackle and hanger and rebolt with grade 8+ bolts and nuts
gets 2" exactly.. my old splash i did it to it |
^^ best bet and cheapest. instead of drilling them, get a cut off wheel, cut an X in the head of the rivets, then if you have a compressor, buy, or rent(if you can) a air hammer with a chisel and a punch... use the chisel to knock the head of the rivets off, then pry at the hanger so it will pop off the knock the part of the rivet that will still be stickin out, flush with the frame, and then use the punch on the air hammer to punch it threw. should take about 2hrs total. and removing the bed makes it a whole lot easier!!
or you can get drop shakles i believe. |
well i didnt drill either i used an oxy asetalen[sp?] torch with a cutting tip... but i dont recommenced that for the in-experienced

I think the 3 inch drop would be overkill in the back if the front is stock. Just flip the hangers and it will be level. |

why spend all that money when u can flip the stock hanger for 10 bucks in hardware and still get the same drop.
|
ok... nevermind then....
|
go to your local autozone and buy some drop blocks. You can get them anywhere from 1 inch to 4 inches. They are only like 25 bucks for a set.

Yeah it is pretty easy too. I am not actually sure of the price, but I know that is about all they are. Really cheap.

ranger is spring over axle so if you put drop blocks on it its going to lift it not drop it. You have to put a flipkit and put the axle on top of the leafs for the drop blocks to actually DROP the truck. Before you post stupid replies like that get your **** straight. |
yeah i realized I forgot to put that on there. Chill out. And no I haven't personally done it, but a buddy of mine has lowered 3 of them. He told me how to do my 97 when I had it. All you had to say is that i didn't say that.

yeah i agree. it happens. but I am sure with everything everyone said, you know how to do it, or atleast, the best route to go.
|
****, ima do mine soon, probably after basic training and ****, but i think i am just going to bag it make it easy toss the leafs, notch the frame, run a 4 link, im good to go
|
hell yeah. that is the way to go right there. That is the plan with mine. Gonne get a drop for now, and then start saving for the bag setup.
