New, and need help...

I have a 98 ranger. It is a 3.0 2wd automatic. It is a sport, extended cab. I am getting a pretty good tax refund, and i wanna do something for my truck. I plan on getting springtech 3" lift spindles for the front, and the beltech 6400 shackles for the rear. (I have yet to decide whether or not i will be putting blocks back there as well.) I am however buying the long AAL, and adding a 3" summit body lift to the truck.
I am in the process of getting my buddy's "parts ranger" which comes with a Westin push bar, Westin step bars, American Racing 15" wheels w/ 31" tires M.T., new door panels, and a chrome bumper for my truck. I do not go offroading, I am 6'4" and I want a truck that fits me for a change. I usually only read yall's advice, but I have a few questions. . . .

1: With my soon to be new upgrades, do i have to get new shocks as well? What are my options with my particular lift?

2:On my particular truck, do I have torsion bars? There was an excellent pic on RF, but I have yet to get under the truck to look...

3: From what I have read here, "long" AAL give a smoother ride compared to "short" AALs. Is that accurate?

4: With my body lft, will my push bar sit 3" lower? (to the eye)

Any and all constructive answers and ideas will be greatly appreciated, and thanks for the information in the past!!!!

wow, no answers? I got my buddys ranger today, now im waiting for my tax refund. I am now also under the impression that I do not have torsion bars, beacause I have coil springs. I dont think you can have both right?

For the front, you wont need new shocks because of the lift. You may however need them anyway, so an upgrade would be perfect at this time. I suggest the Bilstein Heavy Duty shocks. I really did enjoy them when I ran 'em.

As for the rear....if you do both a shackle AND an AAL, you'll need shocks. You can run stock size 4x4 shocks in the back when you lift it. If you only do one of those , you may be able to get away with running the stock shocks on your truck.

No. You have coil springs.

Coilsprings: (crappypic, but its the first 'okay' one i found..)

Torsion bars: (ignore the arrow)

I'm unsure of this. I've seen hands-on a long AAL not properly 'tweak' or 'bend' the leafpack. I'm running a ProComp short AAL on mine right now...and I really enjoy the way it rides. Nice and firm...the way I like it.

4: With my body lft, will my push bar sit 3" lower? (to the eye)
I have no experience, and have no clue. But I have seen BL'd trucks running those weston bars and they look 'acceptable' to my eyes...and i dont even like those bars.

Any and all constructive answers and ideas will be greatly appreciated, and thanks for the information in the past!!!![/QUOTE]
