ride to hard

ok i need to soften my ride with out changing my tires is there any ideas when i go over bumps the truck gigles to much

therangerofdanger 09-23-2009 07:47 PM

umm...what have you done to your suspension? Add a leaf? shackles? Torsion bars? what....

More dampening may be the solution but it depends....

Seb_L 09-23-2009 07:48 PM

Sea-bass would know exactly^^

I thought so!

Welcome to ranger forums and congrats on the truck. I don't remember how the suspension is setup on that truck, but maybe he will chime in.

Antoniodmiller 09-23-2009 07:57 PM

nothing at all

Antoniodmiller 09-23-2009 07:58 PM

thanks i send him a line let me see what he comes up with

Toreador4x4 09-23-2009 08:00 PM

how much air are you running in the tires?

'91 Project-STX 09-23-2009 08:04 PM

shocks maybe?

Antoniodmiller 09-23-2009 08:12 PM

hi man you have a very nice truck that looks awesome

Red_Ak_Ranger 09-23-2009 08:23 PM

Antonio, if you got new shocks front and back that would help some. To be honest expect a bit of a harsh ride from a lifted truck. I don't remember what the best shocks are right now, probably Bilsteins, someone more knowledgeable will respond.

93_ranger_boy 09-23-2009 08:34 PM

new shocks check bushing maybe air down the tires....may sound like a dumb question but are they radial or bias ply tires?

Antoniodmiller 09-23-2009 08:38 PM

ok i will check the air and the bushing, hi guys i am trying to load up some pics now the fisrt time i did this it took me about an hour for one photo and now i am trying to do 14 so i going to be here for 14 hour lol

Then I'm guessing the one in your avi isn't yours? And I'm guessing you don't like that your truck rides like a truck. Since you don't want a truck (based on above assumptions), you can remove a leaf from the rears springs to soften up the ride, but you will lose load carrying capacity. You could also get some dual rate springs from a car application, just match the length and diameter.

He bought the truck from Seabass. You're assuming way too much, to be honest. And I'm not sure of his technical prowess but I think shocks are the best option. And lowering the PSI isn't bad either.

04blackedge 09-23-2009 08:41 PM

John, this guy bought Sea-Bass's truck. So the truck in his avatar is his now

Antoniodmiller 09-23-2009 08:43 PM

ha ha no man i love the truck but in the bahamas the roads are bad and they have alot of, what we call pot holes and its every 2feet is a pot hole

Pot holes are hard to not be bouncy. Learn to steer around then really quickly:silly:

Antoniodmiller 09-23-2009 09:05 PM

sorry for the extra pic i dont know how to remove the ones i dont want

Cute kid, but looks kinda surprised in this one!

BTW, sorry, didn't know you were the one who bought it. Yeah, maybe some different shocks. But really, when you get lifted, the ride suffers. It's a price you pay. Same with lowered.

Antoniodmiller 09-23-2009 09:57 PM

Yeah she was thanks a lot bro

Sea-Bass 09-24-2009 12:34 AM

Hey Antonio!!

Yes, the shocks probably should be replaced, they are the factory ones still with 100K miles on them. As "AK" said go with some BILSTEIN - - 5100 Series shocks. Oh, and the suspension is stock...Truck just has a body lift and #1 T-Bars that are cranked to compensate for the winch and bumper.

Antonio, give me a call if you cant get/find the BILSTEIN - - 5100 Series shocks.

brianjwilson 09-24-2009 05:45 AM

To be fair I haven't looked recently, but I think 5100's are only for suspension lifted rangers. The bilstein HD shocks will work well for the truck. I ran them on my 98 ranger with a canopy, heavy front bumper and everything. I would definitely use them again.

Good call man, I didnt know that. So, Antonio get the BILSTEIN HD shocks.

brianjwilson 09-24-2009 08:16 AM

Here you can see, my truck was setup about the same.
http://www.rotor-heads.com/brian/truck/images/r6.jpg

Here are the part numbers I pulled from the Bilstein website. They are the yellow/blue shocks.
BILSTEIN - FORD RANGER 4WD HD FRONT SHOCK -- Part Number: F4-BE5-2794-H0
BILSTEIN - FORD RANGER 4WD HD REAR SHOCK -- Part Number: F4-BE5-2795-H1

I google searched the part number and here is one place to order them. I have never bought from them, it is just for reference.
http://www.shockwarehouse.com/index....cted_year=2004
A complete set from them is $272.56, which is close to what I remember paying for them.

Billy4x4 09-24-2009 12:46 PM

brianj.. ive never seen pics of your ranger.. looked pretty darn mint back in its day!!!
