Shock questions

i have a 2002 edge. i bought it with 51k on it and now have 105k hard miles on it. i have been beginning to notice it is riding lower. my questions is does the shocks on the truck wear out over time making the truck ride lower and if so what are some good shocks to replace them with

with 105k i would say its time for new shocks but shocks are not load bearing and will not cause your truck to ride lower you may need new t-bars for the front or leafsprings for the back or both

how much would that be

If it sits lower in the back, it may be that the rear shackles have rusted apart or are need of repair. Just a suggestion to check out. My daughters rusted off all the way and ford wants $900 to fix. She has two more payments and then she will be getting a new car.

ill have ti check that out. but i was also reading about tightening the shocks or something like that. how would i go about that

StxDangerRanger 01-03-2011 04:45 PM

you can't tighten then, if they're original, its time for those shocks to go.
Monroe Sensatrac. or Bilsten's simliar gas charged shcoks.
Its a good idea to check the Shackles and mounts, they are NOTORIOUS for rusting and breaking in rangers. specifically the rears.
