stock leaf spring arrangement ?
I purchased a 1996 Ranger XLT standard cab, 7 ft. bed, two wheel drive. It had coil over booster shocks in the rear, which I just replaced with standard shocks, thinking that it would level it out and soften it up. It didn’t drop ¼”.
The bed has not been lifted from the frame. Stock wheels and tires. The rear wheel openings are 10” above the tires.
Could someone send me a photo of what the standard leaf spring pack should look like? There are 3 long leaves and 2 short leaves. Any suggestions for getting this leveled out? Thanks for the help.

Yes, looks like double overloads, the short leafs on the bottom, I bet the ride sucks, lol
Previous owner may have been running 32"-35" tires
I would remove both if you don't need to haul more than 500-800lbs at any time
The u-bolts look like they could still be used but they are not expensive and clean threads are NICE, lol
Not sure if you will need to change shocks again, depends on their range of movement

You look like you are a pretty busy guy, Ron.
Not sure I am following.The two short leaves wouldn't make contact until there was a large load in the bed. I can't get them to touch, even with my brother jumping on the bumper. I was guessing that it was the middle spring that was causing the lift. It looks thicker, maybe newer that the others. Yes, rides rough. Think about that with coil overs at the same time. It was like riding a hardtail.

The short overloads prevent the center of the longer springs from moving at all
And you may still want it lower, and will need to get different leafs
You can look at the driver door label under SPRINGS, at the bottom right, there will be two numbers or letters, 1st is the front rating(the coil in 1996), 2nd is the rear leaf rating, look that up to see what it came with from the factory
People do all sorts of Mods to lift their vehicles.............
And you may still want it lower, and will need to get different leafs

8.8" Ranger axle is rated for 2,700lbs I think
Rear frame and bed is say 1,200lbs, leaving 1,500lbs
Load rating is 1,000lbs, 1/2 ton, so 500lbs safety margin................yes lets increase it.............."WTF!!! I broke an axle, cheap piece 'o crap"........LMAO
