Small Rant..Feel the need
 

So truck is in the shop today getting lift on. Super excited that this day has finally come. Got a call from the guys about 2 hours after install began..

" Your ABS sensor has rusted to your spindle, we cannot get it off without breaking it."

They have to order new ones from ford now which will cost me around $200 and my truck will now not be done till tomorrow.

Get another call..

"Your U bolts are not long enough to fascilitate the add a leaf, you will have to buy new ones"

Another $50+. Does fabtech not give you new ubolts with the kit? Also has anyone else who has a fabtech spindle lift run into the problem of there ABS sensor rusting to there spindle? My truck is an 08 with only 17 000km on it..shouldnt be that rusted, our winters are very bad either.

I looked at instructions. It states to reinstall "original" u-bolts.

Thats either an error from Fabtech or you have an inexperienced shop. I really don't know. I sure hope they are not using the u-bolts to try and compress the springs to install the center bolt. that scenario would make it too short.

my abs sensors were rusted in, but drivers side is $74.99 and passenger is 64.99 from ford, and the u bolts dont come with the kit, but i got an aal in my stock pack with same u bolts and had no problems, but it would be recommended to switch up to bigger ubolts. i think cast and aluminum (the abs sensor has an aluminum sleeve on it) don't go together very well so they cease on there pretty quickly

I just looked into it, and apparently fabtech does want you to use original U-bolts. Shop guys didnt think it was good to use them again. The shop is very experienced..North shore offroad in Vancouver. I trust these guys with everything.

So I guess my rant isnt really anything special. Good to know im not the only one with the rusted ABS sensor. Truck should be done tomorrow and Ill have pics up soon hopefully

The only problem that I know with Fabtech is that their stuff is crap and there are so many spindle snap threads on here. Good luck man.

To save from added expense of new sensors, they should pull the rotor off the truck, use a block of wood, and gently tap the sensor out of place from the metal side of the sensor. Even no-rust zones, they can be a pain to get out sometimes.

Yea I would never reuse the original Ubolts unless I didnt have a choice. They stretch when your torque them down, and reusing them can give you an improper torque reading.

I would trust NSOR for sure. Everyone I have talked to about them says they are a legit shop. I was going to get a body lift thrown on by them, and they came with a competitive price. They guy was really knowledgeable over the phone too.

ya man there great. No attitude, competetive prices and they know ther sh*t. So I beleive them if they say they cant get em off.

I realise that there are spindle snaps occurring with some guys. But honestly whats my other option of lifting my truck other than fabtech spindles? Doestech?...heard crap bout them to! or I could go camburg and spend more than twice as much for performance I dont need. Im pretty sure the lift is meant for lighter offroading and thats what I plan to do with it...its not a pavement princess but its still just a 2wd, I dont expect great things from it

I would have got new u-bolts anyways, the stock ones are dinky and just look like they want to break. After i got a set of the ruff stuff ones, i dont want anything smaller lol

sorry factech screwed you. I can't believe a well known lift company, or any for this fact.. would ever instruct you to use the stock u-bolts.

I blame spindle snaps on too tight of bearings....

What spindles did Griggs have? He abused the hell out of his spindles....even jumped the dang thing.

a bunch of people jump them.. thennn they break. its just a matter of time.

I didn't jump it as much as haul some serious ass down dirt roads.. that ****s addicting heh


don't be too worried, if you're nice to your truck it'll be nice to you. (in theory)

to be fair, im pretty sure all spindles are made by the same company (you can correct me if im wrong but from what i've seen fabtech, and doestech are all made by springtech), there the ones with the licensing, same with steelies, so you cant really say one brand is better then the other

and as far as tapping out the sensors, i tried that, and it failed miserably. you can always just say no to the sensors and try down the road yourself, they just slide through the hole and bolt in the back, and voila! plus it may be cheaper if you buy them yourself instead of them buying them ~$130 vs $200

So did it get done?

NSOR is great if you want to gather information and have questions answered, however ive found that they are extremely biased and will not give you the time of day if you ask them about a product that their competitors carry. also the fact that they wanted almost $9000 install a superlift and tires did NOT impress me at all. personally i wont ever shop there again.

the spindle isnt where the breaks are happening, its the snouts.
