please don't put Ranger leaf springs in the front. If you must use leafs, then use leafs designed for a front axle.

Do coil springs. they ride and flex better than leafs.....

Why are you opposed to using Ranger leafs? Maybe he wants to be custom and have somethin nobody else has. If there is a will there is a way. I have personally seen the flex on a crawler that sports Ranger 3-pack leafs in the front and its amazingly effective. I am posting pics of it later today. You say that coils ride and flex better, thats merely your opinion. Maybe they do, maybe they dont. I just go by what I have personally experienced and seen with my own eyes.

har har har......me too....have have had leaf sprung front vehicles and coil sprung front vehicles of the same caliber and the coil sprung front has always rode better than the leaf sprun......

dont complain about someone elses opinion with your own, makes you look like a retard...

i am opposed to Ranger leafs because that is a cheap way out and there are a ton of better/cheaper leafs out there to use for the front axle IF you really are dead set on leafs.....

espically on a truck as light weight as a Ranger......there is a reason why Ford switched their 3/4 and 1 ton trucks to coil springs...

Apparently you have never been to a real rock crawling event and seen custom crawlers in action. Not pretty boy trucks in car shows that dont even see dirt.

I don't see anything wrong with using ranger leafs. They are cheap and effective. Maybe he just doesn't want coils. Not everyone wants coils for their SAS.

As far as leafs being leafs, he's right. It doesn't matter if it was designed for front or back, they can be used either way, there is no difference in design. There is a difference is how high they are designed to lift, but if you're not looking for height then a Ranger pack will suit you well, and probably ride fairly well with the weight of a motor on top of them. They will also flex well, I see no problem with that.

actual i have fella. Been to numerous rock crawl competitions and well over 80% of them have COILovers, not leaf springs.

For instance: (this is a quick Google search)

and for the record, so what if my truck doesn't see mud......do i have to prove anything to you with MY truck nope sure dont.....i have an offroad vehicle and it isn't my Ranger.......so please keep your trap shut until you know what you are talking about.

Edit: fixed first picture.

Ooh I think I touched a nerve...
Keep in mind that not everyone has the money to do a 4-link for coils. Matt told us all that he is on a budget, like most of us, so imo, leafs are the way to go.

you don't have to do a 4 link to run coils.....you can swap in the EXACT suspension out of a '77-'79 F-150 (radius arms, radius arm brackets)......

Id like to know which comps you went too....

Modified Stock Class you have to run stock style suspension. Guess how many guys run YJs and CJs and Toyota pickups. Most of them.

Formula Toy is leafs only front and rear.

The rigs you have shown would be Pro modifieds or Unlimited class buggies. They are the farthest thing from a "real" rig.

The ones I went to is RiverRock in Milledeville GA and Tellico. And yes, maybe all of the ones I seen were built by backyard rednecks, but they do dam good on the trails, and thats all that matters.

I wonder how the thousands of people who drive their Leaf spring front vehicles everyday are dealing with it?

the leaf sprung front vehicles have leaves that have a weight rating that was designed for the front........the springs wasn't designed for the rear of something then at the last minute the engineer decided that they should also put them in the front.....

i think you people like to argue......
