Spindel snaped ....

well i havent posted here in a while and just the other night i was driving my truck and i took a turn and my spindel snaped ..

now my question is i now need to replace the upper and lower balljoints... u got the lower out no prob but the upper i dont know if i can replace ... im thinking its a one peice with the upper arm but i dont know anyone help me out ?

sanity...where are ya.

Hey, you two are twins! lol...sorry bout that snapage. that blows.

I'd check the ball joints, the steering rack, the tie rods, etc....just to be sure nothing else suffered in this incident.

Hm, is Sanity still 3-wheelin' it? I haven't been back in a while either...he's using his jeep, huh?

Wish I could help you out on the balljoint prob...can't say I've worked on too many after 1998...I would think it should be able to still come out. Balljoints are not meant to stay pressed in with only the part...since you already have to replace it, give it hell. One piece sounds right...you using a puller?

on my 98 I had to replace the entire arm not just the ball joint. I recall seeing after market arms that you could buy, so you could just replace the joints when needed.(moog I think).

well i can tell you that i have had them for at least a year and a half now... and ya i gave them a beating ... hitting curbs mudding just being dumb but ya their not ment for offroad use ... but ya now my passenger door dosent open ... sigh

that sucks, ford is retarded and some of the 4x2s have pressed in like mine and others are one piece, take it to a mechanic and theyll know...

btw what brand were those spindles so i know not to get them

yep those are them... and ya i had read about it happing so when it happend i didint even think anything else i know it was what it was... lol sucks but ya ... cant do much...

i meant just the a-arm with the ball joint still in it...

if i ever drive a 2wd i WONT be doing a spindle lift, end of story way too many people recently have had em break

I got my spindles off Ebay, i hope that doesn't happen to me. How do i know what brand they are? I just bought the spindles from some company in California.

im not sure who but i remember reading somebody with the fabtech spindles that broke..but that was a while ago. and im pretty sure they beat the **** out of em.

Sucks man, hope you get it fixed soon.

And for the doetech (sp?) spindles of ebay, I have put 30,000 miles on mine without a problem.

dang, this sucks. i have the same ones and i'd say 95% of my driving back and forth from school on the highway, if this happens to me im toast :(

im sure someone has broken them... but im also sure someone has broken the stock ones too...
