Well i am looking at picking up a 93 regular cab long box for cheap, 1500 bucks, 4.0 stick shift. anyways i am pondering the idea of solid axling it rather than just lifting it with a kit. I don't wheel it alot, but sometimes playing i get rather throttle happy, especially playing in the snow . I would rather build it one time and make it to last, plan to have it for quite a while. i know the 4.0 isn't a powerhouse but it should do well with 35's, which i plan to run. So i am looking at 6" of lift or so. Now my question is what would be the best to run? I plan on keeping coils up front, so i am thinking on picking up a set of bronco axles and swapping the rear out too, just for the added beef. Now how close are the springs up front? Will they work with the spring bruckets i already got? also plan to run 6" ranger springs up front, then just mount the radius arms and track bar. The steering box will work and just needs a new drag link right? Or would it be better to do fullsize axles with cutouts? the cops aren't too keen on rims sticking out 5 inches on each side these days. any input or advice would be good. If everything works out, i got 5grand to **** away on this build and i got the 35's in the shed. I think it's doable.

well those axles are full width, i am sure you know that.

steering your are right on, it should be fine just adding the new drag link then setting the panhard at the right angle.

radius arms will work great, if you can turn those suckers down or mount the 2.0" DOM on them with a nice JJ to have better flex and ride.

 

run these coils. i know on the 2001 I built it rode great. Good flex too.

I was referring to old little broncos, i should have specified, a fella i know has a junk one in the back forty and told me i can have whatever i want off it. i know if had a V8 so i am hoping it has a disc brake dana 44 in the front rather than a drum brake, that would suck. those axles are similar in width to the ranger, right?

Right, but the front chunk is almost centered, so be careful b/c without enough lift, it gets close to the front cross member. You will have to trim it with any SAS, but you want to be able to leave as much as possible.

 

thanks for the insight, the idea is dead in the water, the truck's leaf spring mounts were rusted off the frame! i'm just buying a lifted 99
