Stuck Lower Ball Joint
I have 1999 mazda 4wd with the pulse hub, I've seen videos where the entire hub and axle is moved as one piece, to the side and out of the way. Then the lower ball joint is removed and then replaced. I've beat and jacked that ball joint for a few hours. No go. Ball joint is stuck in the knuckle. Do I need to remove any more parts on the hub, axle? Like the orange ring retainer ? Should I heat it and beat some more?

I mean, the way you're attempting to do it, just heat it, beat it, and then if that still doesn't work, PB blaster or similar product and then try again.

thanks, I didn't know if I should go deeper into the disassembly of the hub and axle. I didn't want to damage anything my beating the shi** out of the it.

Install ball joint PITA
1999 Mazda
Got the old one out. Press did a nice job. However, the new lower ball joint does not want to press in. See photos. The old one had a nice lip for the press tool. The new one has almost no lip at all. Any suggestions? Can you press it by applying force to the threaded bolt end? Wrong ball joint? Help!!!! https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.ran...b6d97ff181.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.ran...2ba0502eb5.jpg |
Your issue is likely that the kit you borrowed/rented is a basic kit and doesn't have the right adapter for your ball joints, although I agree that the lip is annoyingly small.
This is the kit I own: https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.ran...cfebd21d9d.jpg |
