Leaf Springs

Ok, recently I've noticed my rear is sagging. I don't know why either. It's only got 65k miles on it. I think I have access to a set of leaf springs from a 2004 4x4. I'm going to get the lift blocks and u-bolts as well. Since the blocks are taller than the 2wd Edges I'll need to u-bolts from the donor for sure right? And as far as installation, just jack up the back, put jack stands on the frame rails and then start the swap with support under the axle? Thanks for the help.

the edge blocks and 4x4 blocks should be the same. Thats what the edge is. A 2wd with 4wd stance.

I know the stock blocks on my 4x4 were 2.5" - yours should be the same.

You could alaways install an add-a-leaf to raise the rear.

Biggest thing is making sure your axle is square. After instulation make sure it dosen't dog track before making any high speed runs

How would you go about making it square? Dont the leafs center it where it needs to be?

Reason i ask is cause my leafs are a tad bit different lengths to the center pin. This is causing my axle to be a bit angled, causing my truck to dog track and steering wheel not straight.

Do an AAL if it's saggin instead of swapping out the whole leafpack. It's like $40 and gives your leaf pack that curve and performance that blocks don't. THEN if it's still too low for you get some blocks. If you tow a lot or carry a lot of stuff in the bed then it'd definitely be better to get AAL's.

Well maybe I'll go with the aal. But as far as block size, I remember John (n3elz) swapping them out and the 4x4 ones were actually a little taller.

Well regardless, as far as replacing the leaf pack it'd be just the same amount of work to put in an aal. And I probably can get the leaf pack cheaper than the aal. I just want to know if the way I described will be a good way to install them.

EDIT: Add a leaf Is this the one I would need if I went the aal route?

The junkyard I go to is pretty reasonable for prices. I was going to get an 8.8" with 4.10 and a limited slip for $200. The axle only had maybe 15k miles on it.

I had mine re-arc'd and put aal's on and the difference is amazing.... I think it was less than 100 bucks for the whole thing...

I think somebody once told me procomp aal's suck. And that the aal's fell apart when they removed them

I'm staying away from the aal's for now. If I want lift I'll just go with shackles. Seems easier than aal's anyways. And anyways I'm going to regain the ride height from the saggy springs plus the extra .5" from the new lift blocks.

I gained over an inch with the new leaf springs and lift blocks. I'll have pictures later.
