Suspension troublin'

I've been looking around to find some kind of decent lift for my Ranger '02 4x4 with torsion bars... the options are kind of disappointing. I know I can crank the torsion bars but I don't really feel like reducing my axles life span on purpose to have a lifted truck. I've been looking at the Superlift kit, but I see they don't offer/talk about a differential drop kit? do they even exist on the ranger? I've seen a couple neat lifted Ranger with about 6 inch total lift and the axles were standing perfectly horizontal. Been trying to look around to find answers but its more of a hassle reading threads that go off topic.

Here's an example of a stance/height I'd like to achieve

Not sure what kind of setup that is but I think this is a member's truck? I see the axles and they look great, slight angle. I'm pretty sure its not a coil over swap either.

Anyway to sum it up I'd like to see something that is actually easy on the truck's front end but also does the job of lifting. I'm not really interested in body lift since they mostly just add clearance for tires.

Super lift, body lift, or torsion crank. Nothing else is out there. RCD used to make a kit, but it has been discontinued for years

The truck you have linked is a members. He has a 4in superlift, and a 3in body lift with 35in tires. The truck has also swapped to coil overs but that is for ride quality and clearance. No lift from them.

His user name is fx4wanabe01.

Ok, is there a thread regarding information or installation of the Superlift lift kit? I've looked around here and search but all I found were thread of people asking stuff about them. Is there also a DIY coil over swap? Is there lots of custom fab? Really interested in looking at the possibilities with the pros and cons! Thanks everyone for the replies.

Oh, I just saw a thread that said that the Superlift will put your front axle at a dangerous angle and will probably need a new boot every 2-3 months or so.

not true. its the keys that put cvs at a bad angle. Also boots are fine at extreme angles.

the superlift does put the front driveshaft at a bad angle though, thats why they offer a new driveshaft to solve it. Back when i had a superlift i just ran the stock shaft and had no problems.

The coilover conversion requires fab skill, there is no bolt on coilover conversion.

Well extreme angle is bad for the CV shafts... And yeah Superlift do mention it on the ranger lift page. Anyhow could you explain how does the ranger I posted in the first have the axles at such low angle?

Ah! I'm not a fab genius so I'll probably stick with the Superlift or something, just cutting and bolting.

As far as that's considered - it's just the standard Superlift kit paired with a bodylift (don't worry about the C/O conversion for this topic). The kit comes with everything you need (minus the driveshaft mentioned above). Among the items, it has basic differential drop brackets & new knuckles - so everything is kept 'in-line'.

Just don't crank your bars afterwards and it will be fine.

It's the people that get greedy & crank their torsion bars to the max, or crank aftermarket keys - that run into issues - whether Superlifted or stock.

Thanks for the info!

Anyone know if there's a DIY laying around this section? Search didn't yield much.

Like a 'How-to' for the Superlift install? If so, I don't think so - it's essentially a bolt-on kit (aka - Adult Lego kit).

Most find the Superlift install instructions sufficient.

yea instructions arent really needed, its very basic .

like logan said if you just bolt in the superlift and dont crank keys to max the cv angle will be the same as stock which will be 3.5" of lift not 4". you can run a little bit of angle on the cv's just be reasonable with it

Ok and how do I know the stock value of the torsion bars? Since they've already been tampered with?

Just keep an eye on how 'level' everything (mainly CV's) look.

Alright! So there should be no angles in the cv shaft at all?
