debating between rcd and superlift whats new

ok so i hve an 03 4x4 with 33in bfg a/ts and im debating on which lift to get. Is the rcd way worth the extra pricing? the only thing that turns me away from the superlift is the t-bars...and installation is my main concern because it can be pricey. which lift should i go with if i dont install myself?

superlift is the easiest to install.

Rcd is a nice kit.

well depends which rotors your truck has.

03 is the messed up year for rotors, you need to go out and measure the front rotors. 11.25" diameter are the ones you need, 12" are too big.

RCD requires welding

RCD and Superlift both need the front driveshaft.

Both are nice kits, but with the $ you save, that could go towards wheels/tires. Put a body lift on and you can run 35s safely..

Get Ben's kit. Look in the classifieds for "RCD for sale" or something to that extent. You'll get the brakes, ubolts, and new upgraded balljoints essentially for free. He's a great guy, give him a shout and I'm sure he could work with you.

The superlift will not get as high as the RCD, even with cranked t-bars. About 1" of the superlift kit is supposed to come from the tbars anyways. the SL kit is a good kit, I liked it while I had it on my old truck, but if I were to lift my new truck, I'd get the RCD. You most likely have the strongest t-bars anyways with your truck, so there would be no need for new ones.

Both kits are installable by a driveway mechanic. The only real difference for the RCD kit is that some small shock tower gussets need to be welded in to support the shock tower. Anyone with a welder can do this relatively quickly and easily. If you've never welded before, I don't recommend doing it, but if worse comes to worst, you can surely find someone who can weld it for you for about $40.

RCD is cake to install.. if you cant weld take it to a shop to have the parts welded... or you can be like me and run the RCD for a year and a half and not weld the parts on at all.

It may have worked for you, but that's still NOT good advice to be giving. The shock towers on our trucks are NOT designed to support the full weight of the truck in addition to handling damping/shock duties. You might not have had a problem, but failure of the shock towers WOULD (not could) be catastrophic. Best case, your one tower breaks, your truck suddenly drops to one side, you slide into a ditch, and that's the end of it. I could, however, easily see breaking a shock tower causing your truck to roll, losing a wheel, or causing you to lose control and slide into oncoming traffic... All of which could kill yourself or others.

Aftermarket modifications (especially those that will change your center of gravity or handling characteristics) have extensive research and development put into them to make them safe, but they've got to be installed properly too. If RCD includes the gussets in the kit, you'd be a fool not to install them. It could be your life (or someone else's) on the line if you don't.

i did my RCD in 10hrs. alone, on the floor of my garage, in the cold. its not any more difficult than a SL, but it does require some welding to be complete.

if difficulty is your concern, theres no difference in my book
