t-bar, tire/ lift fitment
 

I own a 2004 Edge 2wd.

Does anyone know where I can get a "how to" on cranking my torsion bars? Also, I am planning on buying a set of Nitto Terra Grappler 285/75/16 tires. I want to put on a 3in body lift as well. Will I have to crank my t-bars or not? Are the Nitto Terra Grapplers a better choice than BFGoodrich A/T KO's? I will mostly be on paved surfaces, but I plan on having fun every now and then. Thanks.

the biggest tire you can fit with the t bar crank is a 285/75/16 or a 33/10.5/15

Do I have to crank the t-bars all the way to fit 285/75/16's? I don't want to do that...I heard that causes future prolems. I plan on keeping this truck for a while. I am in Iraq right now, but will be back in Camp Lejeune on Feb 6th, so about 3 hours or so. My brother lives in Raleigh, so I will be driving there soon after I get back to the states. Why, what's up?

Adjusting the torsion bars does not change what size tire will fit without rubbing.

So I will have to install a 3in BL to keep from rubbing?

no, but you probably will rub a little with those tires. I would recommend going down a size, though. 265/75-16 are 32's in disguise. Christian runs 32s without any lift, i believe. Andy Roach had 33s with just a t-bar crank, but he didn't have flares like our Edges do.

I want my truck to sit higher. Will a t-bar crank get me much higher? I want the big truck look. I am already set on putting 285/75 tires on. I don't know if I want the Nitto Terra Grapplers or BFGoodrich though. Which ones would you choose? I use this truck as a daily driver and do not go off road too much.

Well they are both good tires, but i will say that I've heard more good about the BFGs and griggs will tell you "buy american, your future depends on it!" You could run 33" but you may have to trim your flares a little.

How much of a T-Bar crank would I need to level an 03 XLT 4x4???

depends just get under and crank only way to find out probly like 2-4 turns some where in there.

How much higher can I get my front end up total by just cranking the t-bars? How much is safe?

How safe? Like an inch is pretty much all you can do without risking premature problems with certain suspension components. Some people max them out and get as much as like 2.5 inches. I did 1.5 inches. And as far as hurting suspension parts, some people have things go bad real quick, others claim they have yet to have a problem 70k down the road, so the question is, are you a gambling man? lol
