T-bars. Should i........Pros/Cons
I tried to find a thread that can answer my question but i have had no luck. what does cranking my t-bars actually do? why should i be careful offroading if i max them out? and will there be any abnormal wear and tear on my truck(suspension, drivetrain, axle, cv joints, ext.....)?
Cranking the t-bars lifts the front of the truck up and it does cause parts to wear out faster than normal.
but your truck doesnt look so gay anymore..........
Ifyou are over like 50k...your lowers probably already need swapped out. Just do it. The lower ball joints are first to go.

I understand that it will give me lift, but how? I looked under my truck and i know wat they look like and were they are but i just dont understand wat takes place when i crank them.

All i know is it goes up. I hav'nt really looked to see what takes place there. Im at 81,000 miles and mine have been cranked for about a year. I have'nt replaced my ball joints and i've had no problems.

Ok man put 2 and 2 together!!! Your T-Bar acts as or is your front spring by tightening up the bolt that is at the end puts more force on the spring causing the front end to have less give and sit higher! All it does is not let the front end sag anymore it just like puttin coil helpers in an old style front end! Your ride quality is gonna go down but you clearence is gonna go up and it puts more strain on the ball joints cuz they take alot more beating when the suspension is stiffer!!!
supposedly you can shatter yoda ones, my friend said he did it, so be careful lol
never heard of a ranger one shattering.. but how many ranger owners that still have T-bars do you know that wheel the piss outa the truck with fully cranked bars? thatsssss what i thought |

thanks. i should have asked in the first place. it would have saved me the time of searching. lol |
you can snap a yota! seen it happen. damn imports.
If you do crank them then go to a tire shop and have your alignment checked.

can you not wheel at all with cranked tbars, or would say once every couple of months be fine.
I think you can wheel just fine with them cranked.
yes you can i just got back like 5 mins ago after doing some trail riding with some people. we were riding trails for like an hour and the only thing is watch out for potholes and washouts in the trail. the suspension will still do its job but just be more firm... you can max them mine have been for over a year and a half and no problems im at 99000 miles
Vinny did you get an alignment for the tires or just leave them?
Mine are maxed out and i "wheel the piss" out of my truck all the time. No problems so far. It is a little stiffer, but it is a truck, thats what trucks are supposed to ride like.
ranger bars are probably heavier/thicker/stronger than yoda bars, my friend broke his and put on "heavy duty" ones..
and watching him wheel he wasnt nice to it at all, which is probably a big reason they broke, light to average wheeling you should be fine. imo... i mean there is really a limit to what an IFS truck can do anyways |
yes i did get an aligment it really was not much off the guy told me.
After I put my Superlift on it was very stiff with cranked bars. It hurt me on the trail cause the suspension would no longer compress over rocks, small bumps on one side. You would have to back up and hit them hard to get the front over it. I de-cranked my bars about 6 turns and took the AALs out. Rides alot better and easily goes over obsticals on the trail.

man you guys must be talking about some old yotas if your talking about torsion bars on them......
if you want a lift i would start my doing a 3 inch body cheap and easy. cranking the t-bars works good to level it out but you really dont get huge lift out of it. i offroaded mine with the bars cranked and it was terrible. it was wicked bouncy and rough but its t-bars what do you expect.
