Think Plus 2 inches

If I go with a 5.5 Fabtech suspension lift can I add a 2inch coil spacer block and gain another 2 inches without affecting the camber adjustment? Or will I need to find a larger camber adjustment bolt? Because if I add 5.5+2=7.5 tha equals priceless lift. I wll add another thread about my rear end dragging like an old tried dog. :boggled:

why dont you run a bodylift?

and then its a 8.5inch lift

thats what im running

Thanks for the reply, but you did not answer my question. I have considered a body lift, but if I intend to do the lift and I have the coil springs out (there right now) why not add coil spring spacers if I can. After the fact a body lift would work but what about now.

this will make a person think, especially me. I am not a mechanic (sorry if some spelling wrong, I have been drinking." Ask me what my background is????

Adding coil spacers will affect your camber and make the top of your tires point out away from your truck. This can be fixed several ways. Most lift kits will come with some sort of camber adjustment shims, cams, bolts, or something of the sort, and they should be able to put you back within spec, even with coil spacers. Coil spacers are, IMO though, only a "band-aid." They may look better, but alot of times they can be a real headache to make work properly also.

thank you Kuyle. That has been the most informative thing since I posted a few days ago. The Fabtech kit comes with a camber adjustment kit but will it be enough to compinsate for the 2 inch spacers????

gumby 10-26-2006 06:11 PM

there is only one size adjustment kit for 98+ trucks. what you get is what you get.

lifted97ranger 10-26-2006 06:54 PM

if you add a coil spacer you will not be able to allign the truck........it will always have positive camber(the top of the tires point out) no matter what you do......

just run a body lift if you want an extra 2-3" of lift......

actuley with the short arm long arm setup adding a spacer will lean the top of the tires in/negative. with the 2 inch spacer you will need longer shocks.

you may even need a longer driveshaft depending on how you level the rear.

Just a heads up. i dont think you can get the coils and spacers in. those fabtech coils are stiff.

florida ranger 10-27-2006 02:43 AM

Thanks for the answers ya'll. Its hard to get a answer from mechanics around here. They all say something different, you know the game. It was a thought that I got from reading/viewing through the suspension thread where people needed to level out thier trucks. Plus it really seems like a pita the put the dam things in anyhow.
Bytheway I think I have read ALL the suspension threads now.
