Three tires from the front broken belts in 2 months
So, now that I have had three used tires (one of them came to me this way when I bought the truck) come down with broken belts I decided to do some digging...I think I may have found the problem. Upper ball joints on both sides. FML. Time to get this bad boy up in the air and see what else needs replaced!

You're lucky that's all that happened.

Indeed. I have a feeling I am going to uncover a can of worms when I get these tires off. My big complaint is that three different tire techs put tires on this truck and none of them bothered to mention that I have ball joints that are damn near ready to break. One of them even told me he checked everything and it all looked "tight and good" smh |
Definitely need upper control arms, as the ball joints can't be replaced. That will also come with new bushings for the UCA.
While you are at it, just as well replace the lower ball joints too. These can be replaced, or you can go all the way and replace the lower control arm, too. RockAuto and 1A Auto sell kits for a complete front end suspension rebuild, all for less than $500. |
