Traction Bars
Traction Bars
Im looking at getting a set of lakewood traction bars. Anyone had any good success with them? It says on summit they are for 2wd only, but does it really matter? Any other good budget priced traction bars out there for a 02 4wd?
james duff are good, lots of people run them but idk about the price
2wd vs 4wd.. the ones i've seen mount to the top of the leaf pack, maybe the block in the 4wd's have something to do with it.

well i got my lake wood traction bars for less than 80 brand new and love them. they won't work for 4wd because of the lift blocks as Matt guessed ( i had blocks on my truck but had to remove them to install the traction bars). A few people on this site run them, the only person i can name (off the top of my head) is D. The bars are really simple to install and uninstall (remove rear tires and tighten 4 bolts) but may take time to adjust them to liking. i believe the JD bars require drilling into frame
if you are 4wd i would go with teh JD you will probably be happy with them.

Traction bars or BAR?
On a 2wd application bars (plural) make perfect sense. On 4wd, depending on your usage, a single traction bar (singular) or antiwrap bar makes more sense. A pair of traction bars will limit articulation where a single will not.

Problem with ' under spring ' type of bars.. Clearance issues
Your going to loose 3 inches of ground clearance right where you don't want it.. next to the wheel. You can hang up a lot easier and thats not what having a 4x4 that is purposefully built is about.
Duff bars are nice, but weak. I broke BOTH of them when I ran them. They aren't very strong at all.
