Lifting 97 2WD

Ok so I'm into hotrodding mustangs but recently sold mine and purchased a 97 2WD Ranger XLT. I have a 4.0 L in it and its bone stock....I wanna fit 33 X 12.50 / 15 on it and wanted some help from you guys. I've tried searching for info but all the guys with my model have 4WD and we know its way different. All the 2WD I've seen were newer models. Anyway, I wanna stay away from BL but if I have to I will. I also want CHEAP but not GHETTO ! Thanks for your inputs. Oh, I wanna lift it for the looks. If I go off road, its not for mudding or climbing rocks.

Ben

there fixed the user name for ya

the kit i have is for a 4wd.....and his is a 2wd.......

as far as you wanting to fit 33x12.50x15 tires on the 2wd, you will need at least a 6" lift.......check out places like www.ntwonline.com , www.rockymountainsusp.com , or www.summitracing.com for prices on a 6" lift........you should be able to get a complete lift for around $500 for your TIB (Twin I Beam) Ranger....

Around 500 bucks was exaclty the amount I want to spend. Thats really cool. I've noticed that there are a couple of different style kits...Which one is the best bang for your buck ? I've found these 2 kits so far...One is by ROUGH COUNTRY and one is by AUTOFAD but these are only 4 in suspension lifts....

whever you do, don't get either of those.....i would spend the extra $100 and get the 5" Superlift kit... ( http://www.rockymountainsusp.com/fd2_Rngr.htm ).....that is about the best kit you can get......not to mention that the Rough Country kits don't have a 6" kit....

Thanks a lot lifter97ranger. I really like the stuff on NTWONLINE so I'll probably get one of those kits. Like I said, I don't wanna spend a crap load of money but I definately do not want a CRAP kit. I have a bunch of hand me down accessories for my truck so it'll be like a budget build. My co-work has 01 Ranger Edge which is 2WD but has a 3in Susp. lift and had 33x12.50/15 on it it looks perfect for me. I hope with a 6 in lift, truck will be as high. Keep the info coming guys. Oh by the way, what else would you reccomend ?

1 thing to remember is his 2wd Edge is already taller than yours in STOCK form.....his is the same height as a 4wd Ranger because of the Edge package......his is about 2-3" taller than yours to start with......so to get to his height, you will HAVE to have either a 3" suspension lift AND a 3" body lift (which i wouldn't recommend since the 6" lifts are not that expensive and right in your budget) or a 5-6" suspension lift kit.....

remember that NTW's suspension specials are ONLY for 4wd trucks....they will not fit on a 2wd truck...you will have to call them to get a price on a 2wd lift kit...

they are decent lifts, but they have problems with parts and pieces matching up properly.......i personally have seen 3 Rangers that had to drill out the holes so they could install their RC lifts....

well put that down as 4 than. I had to bore holes out bigger, and gring pieces to fit correctly. The lift too me, my unlce, 2 1/2 days because of all the modifications we had to do. If i do plan to keep this truck, i will be getting a superlift suspension period.
