There's a pic on my cardomain site, a ways down the opening page. They are full size chevy "drop shackles", which provide a lift on our trucks.

no, because on the fullsize they are pointed up, so the longer the shackle is, the more it will drop the truck

i don't understand the full size drop shackles are longer then my stock ones and they lift the truck. i would think the longer the shackle the more it would lift the truck.

the chevys are setup like this

so the longer the shackle, the more drop they get, when its fliped over like ours, the longer the shackle, the more lift it gets

no, on teh ranger the shackle extends downward from the hanger to the leaf, on the FS chevy the shackle extends upwards from the hanger to the leaf. so on the ranger the longer the shackle the more lift, on the FS chevy the longer the shackle the more the drop.

Exactly. Their shackle point up, not down. Ours point down. Make their shackles longer, the spring moves UP. Make ours longer, the spring moves DOWN.

ooooooh ok, I see theirs are upside down. So it would only help us if they made a drop shackle that dropped the full size even lower.

Yup, or you could custom make a shackle. If you have good welding skills you could extend a shackle. Also, many people reinforce shackles anyways since a lot of twisting force is put on them.

Don't go any further with shackles unless you want to buy pinion angle correction wedges. Otherwise, you may end up with driveshaft vibration. Then you'll need either a double cardan joint or CV, or pinion angle correction shims.

It's not by overlooking the idea that much longer shackles are not commonly used -- they change drivetrain geometry too much when over extended.

Altho if you SAS your truck have lnoger shackles could help because they'd change the "rake" of your truck. Therefore the front driveshaft angle would be a lil smaller. Still tho, it would look dumb to increase the lift in the back of the truck instead of fixing pinion angle in the front.

I hope you get what I mean.

telemaster, just look up model number on a search site like me, but since I'm nice and allready did the work, here is the best price that I came up with on the first page http://www.performancecenter.com/aut...s/bel6400.html

Others were around 50, oh you can add the ford ranger for the vehicles that the kit fits

Changing rear shackles has no effect on front driveshaft angle at all. I'm a little confused about what Aaron said about this, and if it's part of the discussion -- but no matter how you affect the "rake" of the truck with rear shackles, front drivetrain angles don't change.

I think Aaron was talking about using them in a leaf sprung SFA application

Okay, good deal. I wasn't sure exactly where the thread was going. His post said something about adding lift in the rear instead of fixing pinion angle in the front and I got a bit lost, lol.
