Upper Ball joint to Spindle issues

Hey guys, I've been having an issue with my upper ball joint. For some reason, it wants to slip out of the top of the spindle. Thank God it only slips about a quarter out. It's still concerning though. I do have a 3" spindle lift and I might add a 3" coil lift. I want to make sure that this ball joint is seated properly but it's been super stubborn. I tightened it too much and I believe I stripped the bolt which is great. Any ideas? Maybe a new upper control arm that is made for suspension lifts? Any ideas would be really great thanks

Just realized that this could be an alignment issue but give me your thoughts and ideas please

the ball joint stud may be too small for the spindle

did you check to see if the ball joint stud is the correct diameter

It's the stock ball joint but I'm getting new ones

Is the pinch bolt the factory one, or the one that came with the spindle?

x2 good point

use only factory / oem bolts

or even better use nothing less than grade 8 hardware

Yeah but here's the thing. I had to replace the original pincher bolts with the same pincher bolt just I got it from the dealer. They don't make them exactly the same. The new one I got from the dealer was out of like the cheapest aluminum possible it stripped really easily. Right now I'm using a way stronger bolt. It's just about the same dimensions as the original just the threads are longer. I've gone through 3 of the replacement bolts from the ford dealer and at $10 I'm done using the aluminum ones

I'm going to look online for this bolt. Hopefully they still make it in steel or whatever material it was just not aluminum

the bolt diameter and thread length must match the factory pinch bolt exactly

and industrial supply company can provide you with the proper bolt and as well as grade 8

Bazman2008Ranger 03-27-2016 11:20 AM

What does grade 8 mean?!

hardness of the metal
