My Ranger towing a 2000 pound trailer report

I wanted to add this report on how my 2008 Ranger 4.0 4x4 auto made out with towing my trailer on a very recent holiday.....we traveled south on I-5 from the US border to Portland, then across to Lincon City on the Oregon coast, we then went from Lincon City to Redmond Oregon then north on 97 to Ellensburg, from there to seattle then back up to the border. Needless to say this route took us over MANY high mountain ranges and hard climbs, the trip was 1195 miles in total, I towed a single axle 14ft trailer which weighs 1980 dry, I had about 400 pounds in it. the truck averaged 13.8 MPG, I tried it in overdrive with cruise...the truck seemed to like it best at 55mph and not using over drive, going 60 mph seemed to keep the revs around 3000 - 4000 rpm most of the time, at 55 mph I could cruise at about 2500 rpm or if it was flatland which was little on this trip I cruised at 1900 rpm in over drive. the truck and trailer travelled very well together, it was 91f through the mountains today and it ran at a steady temp in the middle...ran perfect.
