Couple LSx motors we just finished...vids.
I know this is a Ford forum, but just finished these. Helped some buddies out to get their cars done for a big track meet tomorrow.
Both are 400+ to the tire on motor, stock stroke and bore, mild cam set ups. 2001 Camaro SS...Texas Speed Custom Grind, Bolt-ons 2004 GTO...Texas Speed Custom Grind, Bolt-ons I should have some updated vids of my car soon...got some new goodies... |

at least compare it to a cavalier. and the ls2 hardly gets beat by everything on the road. minor mods and your in the 12's. no mods with a good driver is good for low 13's. |
lol comparing a stupid taurus(fwd?) to a GTO.. turd.. V8 vs V6.. easy choice by sound alone.
I would rather have a slightly slower GTO than a Taurus because YOUR Taurus may beat me, but the rest of them in the city wont. |

Cause that's what it looks like. It doesn't look good. At least not like a "sports" car. Ever driven one of those? They are pigs. Waaay too heavy. I admit I only drove the first gen when they didn't have enough balls to get out of their own way, I'd image 400hp is better than 350hp. But at 350 a STOCK Mustang costing half as much would take one with 50 less horsepower.

I didn't see anything about the 04 ones which are the 350hp LS1's, but Car and Driver did a 13 flat in the 05 which is the 400hp LS2 and that is what the new 5.0 Mustangs are running. Either way I think the LSx is a MUCH better engine than the 4.6's are.

both have their ups IMO. the 4.6 sounds completely amazing.
in the aspects of handling, the GTO is a turd. of course it is when this guy has a veedub that probably handles like its on rails. but power wise, even the LSjuans are pretty damn decent. driven both. loved both. |

Yeah, the first gens had a 5.7 not the 6.0. They also had different rear end gears. They were straight from Australia. All the years after the first two I believe had the 6.0 and better gearing.
