LOL!

Last time I was out in CA my uncle and I were going to LA from San Diego. We were going 75 and saw this CHP fly by us. I barely saw the thing. We heard him and he was past us. He was going at least 140.

Man sounds like ur cops actually do high speed pursuits.. the fastest our cops move is to see who makes it to Tim Horton's (coffee shop) first lmao and i've seen them use light from the cop shop to a timmies once lol

the guy who made the video has nothing better to do apparently.. cops don't always use sirens when going somewhere.

do you really wanna bag on a chp officer?

my dads one, so have some respect please.

but just come to my town, you'd most likely think the same about every officer here

btw, its not uncommon at all for officers to smash arounnd like that

CHP are the only guys I see running lights and siren around here as a general rule when they're going faster than the speed limit. I'd assume their most frequent emergency call is for a traffic accident, and I can't think of a good reason to not respond to a traffic accident with the lights & siren going.

The local cops around here are more likely to be responding without lights/siren, either because the department doesn't authorize them to run code 3 when they should be authorizing them to do so, or in rare cases because responding with a siren/lights would alert the wrong people that they're getting close.

That said, if the motorcycle officer in the video below determined that the safest/fastest way of getting to wherever he had to go would involve passing people on the right, it would obviously be safer for the officer to just do the weaving without the lights/sirens, since the natural reaction to a solid/flashing red light and/or siren coming from behind is to move right, which would be a bad thing for the officer in this case.

If a car is reported stolen and the officer sees a vehicle that fits the description i would assume he would check it out before putting on the sirens . . . and causing a chase. Same thing would apply to an amber alert spotting or if somebody reported a domestic violence happening inside a moving vehicle.

after all of the undeserved profiling and tickets i was subject to while i drove hondas i think i have the right to be critical of this guy doing well over 100 and passing me on the right not missing the other car by very much

you were doing 70?

that was hardly "well over 100"

I've done my share of passing people at 100+ and you get past them much quicker..

quit whining.. cops are cops, and will always be cops, and will always be able to do stuff we cant w/o gettin in trouble.

Your in CA. It is legal to pass on the right or pass between cars on a motorcycle if you are in 1 lane. Motorcycles have to share a lane and they can pass wherever, if he was in 2 then it would be illegal. And he is a cop. So that is not illegal. Also he wasn't going 'well over 100' if you were doing 70.

You're kidding me right?

If you were upside down on the side of the highway dieing wouldn't you want the Highway Patrol to get to you as fast as possible? Rolling to a scene code 3 is not required and can often inhibit them from getting to a call. What would you have done if you would have seen him with his lights on? Slowed down and maybe tried to change lanes, it was safer for him to zip by relatively undetected so he could get to where he needed to be safely and quickly.

Some of my best friends are California Highway Patrol officers. And I personally take offense to this post.

Not missing the other car by very much? WTF

I could have drove my truck with 10' trailer through there

My question is why are you video taping while driving probably 70+ MPH?

I have 2 questions for you Melt.
1: Why were you video taping while cruising on the freeway at 70 MPH?
2: Why were you cruising in the left lane to begin with?

Please be logical. You dont know where he is going or why. Unless you can tell me he was not on a call you should not attack him on how he drove. A lot of times lights and sirens create more problems than they are worth and thus cause accidents between the police and public. When my department has to get somewhere quick and traffic is not horrendous on the freeway we just zip in and out of traffic until we get in a back up, then we through lights and sirens on.

This is irrelevant to your post but it really grinds my gears when people attack the police when they see an officer come to an intersection, hit his lights and sirens, run the light, and continue on. . . . . People automatically ASSUME he is going on a "doughnut run" when in reality someones car could be getting broken into, a DV is in progress or numerous other reasons.

Also your so called "profiling" gives you justification to do the same thing back?

Ya thats not an uncommon sight and really doesn't bother me to see them do that, what bothers me is they talk on cell phones alot while driving.

I could care less how they drive or if they don't follow rules of the road. There must be some big reason for it and for flying by at a very high speed. As long as they do their job to the fullest potential.

im starting to think this thread was a bad idea

reason for the tape was there was an ag burn going on and i was gonna capture the smoke to use in an arguement about ag burning verses wood stoves for house heating, but then captured this in the process

i was in the left lane cause i was slowly overtaking that car on the right, i had merged over not too long before the guy blasted past me on the right
