15X8 vs 15X10

whats the difference? i was looking at my wheels yesterday while in the shop, and found that they are 15X10.. I know i ordered 15X8's, but would any of us expect any less from 4wp? lol..

Still havnt figured out the backspasing yet.. the rims didnt seem to tell what the backspacing was..

Lord Of War 06-08-2009 08:24 PM

The difference is the 15x10 is 2 inches wider then the 15x8.

God,Country,FORD 06-08-2009 08:25 PM

oh.. I wasnt sure if the 10 was the width.. .. which is better?

Lord Of War 06-08-2009 08:35 PM

The 15" is the height of the rim, (from the ground to the top of the rim).

One isnt really better then the other. The 10in rim will make the tires stick out from the truck more so, it depends alot on the look you are looking for.

Woods-Rider 06-08-2009 08:38 PM

what size tires will you be running on them?

cchsbuzz19 06-10-2009 07:39 AM

I remember Stone swaped his 15x8s for 15x10s because he said the tires wear better. But alot of people run 15x8s with 33x12.50 tires and I've never heard any problems of this. I've been thinking lately of getting the body lift and 33's But I'm not sure whether I should keep my 15x8s or go up to 15x10s.

shadow905 06-10-2009 07:41 AM

i run my 35x 12.50 on a 15x8 with a -19 offset. and imo they look good. they wear about as even as i ask them to(which is not much). its not something im worried about though. like someone said above, its all about what you are going for. if your going to wheel, go with a 15x8. if youre going for looks, 15x10

99ranger4x4 06-10-2009 07:45 AM

in order to get a complete foot print with my rear tires i have to run 15psi.. thats the difference ha

shadow905 06-10-2009 07:46 AM

that also depends on the tire too...

99ranger4x4 06-10-2009 07:55 AM

heavily depends on the tire, my foot print with 35x1250 MTZs on a 15x8 wheel was wider than my buddies 35x1250 KM1s on a 15x10.

silverbullet32 06-10-2009 08:01 AM

yeah, sometimes 15x10 are better because the tread will lay flatter when on your truck instead of being ballooned like on a 15x8 but it all depends on your tire size, i have heard of guys saying the 10's destroy wheel bearings but i have no personal experience with that

xp1ik99 06-10-2009 09:02 AM

15x10's are gay

buckgnarly 06-10-2009 09:44 AM

narrow rims hold beads better at low psi.

God,Country,FORD 06-10-2009 09:52 AM

hmmm.. well hopefully they dont destroy my wheel bearings considering i will have to replace the eniter hub assembly which isnt cheap.. And im running 35's.. was going to go down to 33's but the wife said no lol..

mlw20lu 06-10-2009 04:46 PM

im rummin 15x8 and 35x12.5 mtz's....i like em cus they look a lil fatter

jaycheetwood 06-10-2009 05:47 PM

Too bad you cant put 15x10s and 33x12.5s on a non lifted ranger haha

already done w/ #1bars & 3/4 tbar crank just dont plan on having any flex most of my off road driving in on flat beach or dirt service roads

JakeH05 06-11-2009 07:41 AM

Im running 33's and 15x10s. Tires are wearing perfectly and i love the stance over the 15x8's. Its all personal preferance really tho.

zabeard 06-11-2009 07:53 AM

i like a narrow wheel for wheeling and airing down.

17x8.5 with a 37x13.5 tire. Ive had the wide wheels before, blowing a bead sucks and i prefer not to do it again.

It took me almost 4 years.. but yea it sucks.

what sucks more than losing a bead is losing a bead in mud.. seen that a ton of times.

zabeard 06-11-2009 08:53 AM

mud sand snow all suck when you loose a bead.

That's why you run beadlocks... :silly:
I prefer 15x8's if you wheel it much or air down much. If it's a mostly street truck, 15x10's make it look wider and will do great.

I'm gonna start reading up on how to re center H1s
