18" rims

18" rims
Alright, found someone looking to part with Mustang Cobra rims for $200. They are 18x9 and he states they need to be re-chromed. States he left them outside for awhile (like I bring my truck inside all the time), but otherwise they are in very good condition. They're Ford Racing rims.
How pricey is the re-chroming process and in the opinion of the board, is the asking price + re-chroming $$ worth the price? Will they hold up?
Looking to avoid rubbing and a lot of extra work, would these mount up okay on my Splash (98), and what size tires should I run? The only thing I am also contemplating is a 2/3 drop at some point in the future. I know I may have to run a wheel spacer on this as the BS is 6".
Thanks for any input.

I wouldn't waste my time honestly. If you spend $200 on the rims it's going to cost you about $75 a wheel to have them rechromed if you get off cheap. You're looking at $500 or more for a set of used wheels that you will still have to run spacers with because I'm not sure if the center bore will work or not. I only paid about $500 for my wheels new and they are 18"s as well. Ebay is a beautiful thing.

You can always powdercoat it another color (i.e., black, titanium gray, etc.)...once you do, I am selling 2 tires for 18" wheels (245/40/18 Toyo Proxes FZ4 w/ 80-90% tread left) for $200. Click on my sig. link to see how I powdercoated my 18x9 COBRA Y2Ks "Biker" black. Cost me $40/wheel. IMO, don't clearcoat because I had it clearcoated awhile back and it cracked on certain end of some spokes. Powdercoat is very strong enough...so clearcoating it is not needed. Good luck.
