Cost of Powder Coating Wheels?

I know someone here has done it... What did it cost you?
I realize it would vary from one shop to another, but I'm curious how much a person has actually paid for this?

Nevermind, I changed my search and finally found a thread. $40 per wheel and up from there.

I believe so, but technically it would depend on the wheel I guess. Depending on what temperatures they can withstand. I have heard sometimes of a lower temp cure powder coat that takes longer too....

This is partially why I am asking, I know I have heard of people getting aluminum wheels powder coated. But I have never directly talked to someone who has done it (with aluminum).

(this is not for the F150, in case anyone was wondering)

While doing more searching I have found several people who have done it with great results.
On the other hand I just remembered how every shop I have taken anything to around here has screwed something up. So it may not be the best idea for me anyway, lol.

My aluminum headache rack is powder...

Anything that can take an electrical charge can be powdercoated.

Yeah the deal with aluminum is that it gets weaker with heat, or lets gasses out as it heats which can prevent getting a good finish. I think a respectable shop could do it just fine. I read up about several shops in the Portland area who have powder coated aluminum wheels and done a great job, prepping and coating them for $40/each.
So that means here they would probably want $100 each and still screw them up.

Yeah it was just an idea. One of the cars I looked at had factory wheels that were scratched up quite a bit, and I saw the same wheels powder coated on a car and really liked it. It would be cheaper than buying new wheels, but since I would want new tires I could order a set online already mounted.

None of it matters yet anyway since it has been 8 days and still no word about the wrecked jetta.

almost all steel wheels on the market come powder coated. I got a quote from the place that did my bumper. I was thinking about changing my wheels from black to silver. They wanted $150 (for 4 wheels) for any of their stock colors and $190 for anything they didnt have in stock or had to custom make, such as color matching and what not.

Stock wheels (05-06 LGT) powder coated.

And the stock 07-09 wheels powder coated.

Stock 07-09 wheels for comparison.

I'm going to be upset now if they don't total the Jetta. lol
I've got lots of mods already planned out and money in the bank! muhaha. Although the money I have would probably all go to a bigger down payment to keep my wife's monthly payments low.

This one has most of my interest right now. Looks a little plain in stock form but, like I said, I have mods planned that will make it look much better.
Cars for Sale: 2008 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT Limited in Bensenville, IL 60106: Sedan Details - 264496490 - AutoTrader.com

The Legacy GT essentially has the STI motor with a smaller turbo, and it doesn't look like a spoiled kids car or draw much attention. It puts out I think 243HP stock or something like that. With a turbo-back exhaust, bigger turbo, intercooler, fuel pump and injectors, with a tune it will put down around 320HP to the wheels. Although I wouldn't be doing anything that extreme until warranty is passed, if ever.
