I have a 2wd ranger I got on the cheap do you think some mud tires would compensate for the lack of 4wd?
I do alot of hunting and general fiddle fartin around in the woods, there isn't to bad of terrain here other than the slicker then crap mud.
Should I just cut my losses and buy a 4x4?

buy some good mud tires and a locker out back and you would be suprised how well it will be.

No 4wd but will be capable

 

I got some tsl radials on the way, they where the only mudder i could find to fit my 14s.

 

What year is your truck if it came with 14's? I thought they were all pretty much 15's...

 

94 xlt it came with 225/70r14s crappyest size ever to find off road tires for!!

yeah I wish the money was there. My TSLs were only 109 each though. A plus of smaller rims.

 

Yeah man, should've looked around for some 15's. I bet you could get a set off craigslist for $50.

Good tires and a locker will take you a lot of places. A good driver with that combo can go some places that a open/open 4wd might not be able to make it.

TSL RADIAL = GREAT TIRE!!!!

 

its a locking differential that allows both rear wheels to turn at the same time instead of just one. it makes a huge difference offroad trust me.

and as far as the bfg mts and ats......i had some and they were trash in my opinion. they got me stuck in the same stuff that my stock street radials did, then i got some mud claws and those have never got me stuck anywhere. they clean out during every revolution.

 

could you make a suggestion on what brand and where to buy?

 

i have mastercraft courser mt's and im 2wd with nolocker and i love them, got me through the snow and ice just fine, i got mine 40% used from a junkyeard with rims for $250

thats the link where i get parts. all of it just depends on what gears u have and what rear end u have.

the detroit locker is good, but it depends on what u have already.
