Ideally you would want 8-9". if you dont air down much you will probably be ok though.

My 33x12.50s are on 15x10s, I was told by a few people that not even 15x8s would be wide enough, or at least it would be a lot safer with the wider rims, so really, I don't know, but I wouldn't do it.

Yeah. I got one on my spare. I've got a 33x12.5x15 on a stocker wheel. I think those are 7.5" but close enough.

yes it can be done and just fine...

you guys crack me up "safer?!?!" on wider um no.. better wear yes but there is no safety issue with running 15x7 and the one who said dont air down um what.... you have more problems with wider rims like 15x10 then 15x7 you can go father down with PSI because the bead has less of a chance to pop....

he is saying on a 7 inch rim there is more pressure on the bead when airing down that keeps the bead seated as apposed to a 10 inch rim the only thing holding the bead on is the air so when you air down for wheeling there isnt much pressure pushing out to hold the bead, i had 33x12.50's on my stock rims and it was fine, but they did rub when hitting bigger bumps because i only have a 3" body lift.

there is nothing what so ever wrong with running a 12.5" tire on a 7" wheel.

I am running a 14" wide tire on a 8.5" wheel.

like beard said u should be fine im running a 35x12.5 on an 8 in wide rim and havent blown a bead yet and ive had my tires aired down to 6 psi i used to run them on 10 in wide rims but anything lower than 12 psi they would blow off pretty easy

Personally, I don't like it when wide tires are on much smaller rims. It makes the rims look so small. I had 33x12.50x15 on 15x10 wheels and the proportions looked perfect.

No offense Zabeard, I love your truck, just personal preference.

nothing wrong with that setup, just not my preference any more. like justin said you get that psi under 12 with that wide of a rim its gonna pop

alot of guys i know run 12.50s on 8 in rims just fine with good wear. A few people i know also run 7" rims so they can air down more, again they do just fine.
But everyone also has different experiences.

a 12.50 on a 8" wide wheel is A.K.A a poor mans bead lock...

I have a buddy in Tucson with 37X12.50 on 8"wide, he airs down to 8psi all the time to go rock climbing, I have never seen him pop a bead..

personally I like the look of 33x12.5x15 on 15x8s, I think they look too stretched on 15x10s

But most tire manufacturers say a 12.5 wide tire on a minimum 8.5 inch wide rim
