33's and 4:10 or 4:56?
For those running 33's are you happy with the stock 4:10 gears or wish you had installed 4:56's? I'm thinking 4:56 is the way to go to keep the tires turning in mud/sand and even on the highway. I'm not looking for charts to read, not worried about rpm's or mileage just looking for some real life experience from those that have that combo.

Last long trip I took I averaged 18.5 MPG. Best I ever got from my truck, better than I ever did stock was with 4.56 gears and 33's. Averaged 22 MPG's on a 700+ mile trip going 70 all highway.

I'm satisfied enough with my 33's and 4.10's. It isn't bad. But 4.56's would be better.
My 91 octane performance tune helps though. I've "raced" an 04 4.0 with 31's and 4.10s from a dead stop to 50 or so. We were pretty even...I had him by maybe half a truck. His was an auto though, which is prob why I had him by a bit.

never tracked my mileage but 4.10s and 33s are not a problem. my truck never has any power issues on hills, loaded bed, off road. i have not towed with the tires on so i cant make any suggestions there.
i have no problem breaking the rear tires loose on pavement so i dont see any need to regear my truck at this point. i drive all highway everyday now and my fuel economy still seems decent

Even a mile above sea level, I have enough power to get around fine. Up at 8k+ feet in the hills...it kinda sucks but is still manageable. Maybe i'm just used to it.

Ha, thats not really a fair comparison. Its better to compare a small hammer that still gets the job done fine...with a bit more work...compared to a big hammer that would make your life easier. The truck is going to work a bit harder...but not to the point that its bad for the truck.
