hmm honistly probly a 30x9.5x15, a 31x10.5x15 might be pushing it i woulds have to see a picture of the truck because some STX came with the "high rider" package which you should then beable to clear 31's fine

Mine should be the regular height STX, they didn't come out with the high rider suspension until 87. thank you very much for the replies

actually, without rubbing you may be looking at a 29" tire in there, seeing as those are probly right around 24-25" tires right now. the wheel wells on the older trucks are tiny and something that old the springs are probly sagging a good bit...

ok, those are 27" tires, so lookin at the pics the largest you could go with is probly a 29" tire and not much wider than that either as long as you keep it on a factory sized rim (15x7 with 4.5 BS) you get a wider rim or a smaller backspacing its gonna push the tire out farther and it WILL rub on the fender, especially in the front whenever you tried to turn. if you wanted to cut your fenders out some you could fit something larger, or lift things a little, but your options are limited for what you have there for not rubbing. good luck to ya.

you could get a 31 if you get a wheel with a greater backspacing
