New Tires on 07 Ranger

I have a 07 Ranger XLT 4cyl/5 speed
the stock Contis are crap, if I go to the dumps or my other property
in the wine country (both dirt roads) all I get is loose traction and spinning

Since my truck has the tire pressure monitoring system, if I just replaced my 225/70/15 with some traction type 235/75/15, could I use the same rims and TPMS monitors and everything is fine or are they specific only to the stock sizes??

After driving for over 30 years, I know what a tire looks like when it's low or out of air

yea offer pressure monitoring on the new trucks?

yea you can still use the pressure monitoring.......no matter what size tire you use....it measures the pressure inside the tire, not the tire....

yeah mine has the tire pressure monitoring and yes you can change your tires and it will just read the air in the tire. I have 285/75/16s and it works fine

ok thanks all
was looking to put BFG A/T's in 30x9.50x15
on my truck as I had them before on other vehicles

this one tire store I talked to said 235/75/15 is the biggest I can get on there

want to have a nice looking functional tire and fill the wheel well too without rubbing, after all it's only a 4, so don't want to lose power (which don't have a lot of to spare)

"The United States government has passed legislation that requires all new passenger vehicles (beginning with 2007 model year vehicles) to be equipped with tire pressure monitoring systems."

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=44

This is how the one in the ranger works:

Indirect System...
use the vehicle's antilock braking system's wheel speed sensors to compare the rotational speed of one tire vs. the others. If one tire is low on pressure, it will roll at a different number of revolutions per mile than the other three tires, and alert the vehicle's onboard computer.

No need to worry about rims or tire size, just make sure all 4 are the same.

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

Had to go to the "Other Sizes" column to find your 30/9.5/15 size... but it has it. Hope it helps.

Here are 31's on a 06XL same engine tranny. I wouldn't recommend very big tires if your going to haul alot or if your in situations where you might bottom out. Unless you do a lift. You might want to stay with 235/75's otherwise.

you have exactly the same truck I got except for the color
like how those 31's look too and fill the wells

thats why I figured the 30's were an inch smaller all around, but like you said the 235's might have to do

hah, I was wondering if I had the pressure monitoring system on my 07, but when I rotated tires the first time I didn't see anything on the rims. I didn't know it monitored it a different way, very cool.
